Survival at LGA on pbj sandwiches w/o crash pad?
Can one find a studio apartment for $700 that's not too ghetto?
Are there any Super Walmarts or similar cheap grocery stores around?
Do you have to drive forever or ride a train to get to work?
thanks

Potentially you could find a half-decent studio in Astoria for maybe 800-900 with some nice places to eat (I hope you like Greek) and a 15minute bus ride (M60) to LGA. Search craigslist for "astoria"... But be careful, because some of those places might be cheap only because the roaches share the rent

EnNuages,
I've considered New York before and its definitely doable. What you should do is go to Craigslist New York and under 'housing' you'll see 'rooms / shared.' I've found some unbelievable deals location-wise, but the only catch is that you'll have to share an apartment with a random person. Luck of the draw is, they might be pretty cool.

No, I honestly don't know if NYC has any walmarts.. I never knew walmarts existed until I went upstate for college. but, you will find everything you will ever need within a block or two of where you live, wherever that may be in the 5 boroughs.

depends on where u live, but the MTA provides bus service right from the terminals to manhattan and several different parts of queens, from which you can walk or transfer to the subway (for free!). i personally really wouldnt recommend driving.
thanks
