As far as MCI goes, I hope it stays a MX-base only...sure, a new base is always cool, but sometimes one larger base is better than two smaller bases (better schedules, lines, facilities, etc...)

But who knows?! Certainly not me LoL
There has certainly been nothing public about the decision...not exactly sure why everyone at Skywest is so certain that they will be getting 10 more planes for Midex

Its been in e-mails before that they were thinking about a MCI base and given we WILL get at least 10 more Midwest airplanes I'm not surprised. History has shown whenever they even talk about openeing a base it's almost certain they already have the plan in place for one, right down to the color of paint on the wall.

The Midwest CEO said skywest had performed better than "he could have ever imagined", his words not mine. Skywest was the reason Midwest made a profit last quater, we are keeping that company profitable. It makes sense to add more flying, I wouldn't be surprised if we added more than 10 planes. It would help given delta wants to dump some 200s and replace them with 700s.

Getting more growth makes sense given we are stopping upgrades for 2 months so we can run back to back Full CRJ F/o classes. We need to get fat on F/Os so we can gear up for growth. There is much in the works for 2008 from what I understand. We will grow more than we did in 2007, the midwest and delta growth with the rumor of all of Mesa's UAL flying it makes sense. JA and co know what they are doing that is why they have never been in the red, EVER!.

I work for Skywest and I hate reading your posts. You make us all look like a bunch of arrogant a$$e$. Keep bragging about how great we are and how we'll make a profit every quarter until Christ returns. Keep implying that we're the greatest and how no one else is good enough to carry our jocks. You're not doing us or yourself any favors. Hopefully not everyone thinks that we're all like you...you pompous a$$!

Hey don't knock him - for one thing, he's partly right, and number two, a little optimism couldn't hurt this board - He wasn't coming off arrogant, just confident and yes, optimistic, about his future.

Besides, have you ever met a SKW Pilot that actually thought he was better than anybody else? Didn't think so...Just take a look at XJT (no offense Saaabbbbbrrrroooowski LoL) - they'll stick up there noses to you any day of the week and twice on tuesday...they know they're better than you and me ;-)

Slap has a long history of insensitive and somewaht inflamatory posts. An unusually high percentage of SKW pilots do tend to come off as a bit arrogant...I've seen it from both the outside and the inside. The hiring process has historically been challenging, but anybody can have a bad day (or a good day ) in the sim.

MCI works good for me as I live in St. Louis.

Midwest requires special training for flight attendants to learn how to bake cookies. I hope that all flight attendants take the time to ask if we need anything on the longer legs as it always is nice to fly with someone who takes care of us. Certainly don't get too much of that in today's society. I actually had a America West (USAir) flight attendant NOT give me ONE extra bag of pretzels!!! She told me I had to buy them from the other flight attendant who was selling them! And yes, I was in uniform.

From the sounds of it, they are in fact gearing up for a quick transfer of people from MKE to MCI. It may or may not be better schedules, we'll just have to wait and see. ATL is a small base, but because they are flying longer legs they average 6 hrs or credit per duty day which is best in the company. They did in August anyways (I think).

It is true that upgrades have stopped, but according to our manager of ground training that is ONLY because we are so short on FO's. Upgrades are scheduled to resume in January and I assume hiring will continue as it has been throughout the next few months. Didn't someone say that we don't hire much in the fourth quarter usually anyways???

Slappy, you going to sell out and vote for ALPA or what??? In regards to his thoughts on growth in 2008, he also said we were getting a lot of Delta flying that has since gone to Mesa, Pinnacle and Comair. Slappy is here just for our amusement and to keep us SkyWest guys drinking to Koolaid! Oh Yeah!

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but I sure disagree with Slaphappy's general disposition.
