Management refuses to negotiate seriously. Even worse, the Federal mediator refuses to do anything about it. He has been asked twice (first by Duane Worth, second by John Prater) to release the pilots into the 30 day cooling-off period and twice denied it with no reasons given. The National Mediation Board is a Republican majority, hence an extension of the President's "no strikes on my watch" policy. We must amend the RLA to give timelines and deadlines and penalties for not meeting them.

nothings been set in stone but that is what was told to us in training that that is what was being proposed but was not definite....22 or 23 buck i cant remember, something like that, but if the contract ever gets taken care of, there will be a pay increase for everyone.

Nothing has been agreed, no pay scale , no raise.
Pay scale are still based on a contract that was negotiated in 1998.
We are not seeing the end of the tunnel.
for those who love ASA so much, I will be happy to hear from you in a year, after you have been abused by scheduling or found yourself furloughed because of lack of growth or aircraft transfer to skywest.
People are great at ASA, the operation performances are horrible.
Management is totally clueless.
Our flights never run on time, 53% on time arrival for august, No customer services, aircrafts always broken, pilot fatigue, poor scheduling, low morale and so on.
3 bases have closed in the past 2 years.
Delta travel benefits are now worthless.
Medical benefits have been reduced.
Most schedules are non commutable and inneficient.
You will get a cookie as yearly bonus for christmass.
The 300 hours requirement for new hire speak for itself.
They cannot recruit enough pilots due to Massive exodus.
Asa is slowly disintegrating and it is exactly the will of Skywest management.
I would join ASA only if I lived in ATL or not meet the hours requirement for other carrier.
If you plan on joining, build your hours for 6 month and go elsewhere to a brighter future, than its OK.

Wow! So PSA is looking better after your post. I might skip the interview offer then. They want you to stay two days but don't pay for the hotel and there is no mention of how we are suppose to get to the interview. Says a lot to me. First impressions, not very good. They don't seem very organized and furthermore they don't seem to care. Someone should send them a memo.

Can someone explain how they are affiliated with Skywest? I have heard so many good things about Skywest but ASA seems to be on a whole different level compared.

dba74 09-05-2007 03:44 PM

ASA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SKYW. As for what their master plan for ASA is, I honestly don't know. When they bought ASA, I honestly thought it would get better, but somehow it got worse.

Yeah from what i read on here PSA sounds like the better bet. But what do i know? Nothing...
BTW what are your hours?

You finally get it.
A carrier who invites you for an interview, but expect you to pay for your hotel. That speak for itself how cheap they are. Don't expect respect.
they can't even recruit flight attendants.
By the way, F/A makes more money in their first year than new hires F/O.
Until they beg you to come, and giving us a better contract.
You got the power in your hand.
the Industry needs pilots so bad, that you have the choice to pick up whatever carrier you want to work with.
Skywest, chitaqua, AE, Coex, PSA, are much better than ASA.
Good luck with your choice.
