And this is the fifth post in one day... just blew away yesterday's record.

Ha. I hope things are great at XJ... who knows, we'll see... I'm going to hate commuting though... never had to do it. It might be a while before XJ needs street CA's.. but I think Lakes might be hiring into the left seat....

The USA Today can run a story today saying the people in LA are victims, then tomorrow run a story saying the people in NKY are victims. Paper's conclusion... this country needs to hope for change.

That poor kid featured in the article decided to go to the fancy medical school because he knows it will pay off later. He knew he would need huge loans to pull it off, and he's no victim. But the paper plays it like this poor ignorant kid and his poor ignorant surgeon parents are victims, getting scrood by the big mean overpriced school. Our country needs to hope for change. Then they say that college students have billions to spend on beer, vacations, and condoms. So what is it? Are the kids rich or poor? I'll offer a perspective the paper failed to offer... some college kids just have crummy judgement.

People are losing their homes. I understand that. My point is that a few years ago the media complained about more Holiday flights. Now they complain about less Holiday flights.

I've learned to go straight to the supuku puzzle and dump the rest in the pilot lounge.

I do agree things need to change. I read the paper everyday and one thing I've come to understand about it is this, it's another business. They'll print what they think needs to be printed in order to sell papers. Therefore, I read it cautiously. One thing though, this country loves victims. It seems to me that's one of the reasons people just don't get over whatever it was that happened to them. That way they keep getting sympathy, pity, and attention. And that sells papers. Anyhow, are you getting furlough in Jan 09?

JFK bid packet is out.

December hours: 6215.61
January hours: 5221.61

Glad I'm only working half the month and won't have to see the drop for Feb...

MV is the standard stuff, in CLT. Capt takeoff, vectors around for CAT II landing. Takeoff, V1 cut, run the immediate action items, vectors around for single engine hand flown ILS. Aborted takeoff. Xwind takeoff, vectors around to GPS 5 or LOC 23 canpa. Landing config stall.

F/O does same round, except no CAT II obviously, and you'll do the other canpa approach. No aborted takeoff either.

LOE is CVG-BWI. Many scenarios, some VERY difficult, some not so difficult. Failures can include ANTI-ICE warning message (requires diversion to IAD or PHL, IAD is better choice), Flight spoliers caution during descent on RAVNN approach.

There are other failures, but those are 2 of them.

No, five years at Comair and I'm around 200 from the bottom after the January furloughs. Probably back on reserve. But if the current rate continues, I'll be furloughed in April or when we get our next CEO, whichever happens first.

I'd certainly consider a voluntary furlough if they get around to it. I need to get a real job to support my family while awaiting my 10-year upgrade.

Does anyone know how line/ reserve awards will go for next month. I'm going from somewhere near 50 from the bottom to below 10 in JFK. after the furloughs? Can you be assigned long call for the first part of the month then be switched to a short call window after the 19th?

I'll pitch in a post from a furloughed Comair pilot! As days go by, it's hard to care about Comair anymore. I try to stay up on the latest and greatest crap whenever I can.

I tell you this, go to mesaba. It'll be a hit on the wallet, but you'll make capt in about 18 months, if not less. I got turned down by them, but since you're working, they'll have no qualms with that. You'll not be recalled, hence no chance of you going back. I'm thinking and hoping ASA or Pinnacle will be hiring early next year. Got friends there and they are feeding my fantasies with their rumors.

Found this little video clip. I think it is the same math equations and formulas that Comair/ALPA use to determine number of pilots needed/furloughs/etc.
