if you were the MEC, what would you have done different?

This isn't flame....just wondering if anyone other then Atlanta has any real ability to change the fate of this company.

Not have flushed ASAP (I have heard both sides and that it was a really wierd and messed up situation, but didn't warrant the cancellation of the program IMO)

Kept the already lowered line value in place to help mitigate furloughs.. (If the crusty old guys want higher lines, there is a bid syntax called HI).

Relaxed a bit on the eMaestro issue... I am a computer programmer and I know how long it takes to get changes completed to complex script... they are working on the issues.... but have patience, a lot has been fixed already.

You have to pick and choose your battles... one of the great things about the previous administration is even when the brown stuff hit the fan, there was still back door communication between mgt and the MEC. In this admin, there is NO communication... Mgt and the MEC have to come to a compromise on things, and when the MEC goes in and says its our way or no way... nothing gets done. As far as I am concerned our MEC is worthless to me and the rest of the group. With of course, the exception of a few that have worked tirelessly for us furloughees like MP the Furlough Committee Chair.

Not to mention, the great "Knucklehead Award" and the constant childish remarks and the "take my ball and go home" mentality.

I understand the company isn't our best friend, but there is no need to poke them in the eye at every turn.

Problem with the ASAP is no one is telling us exactly what caused this cancelation. One of my big issues is the communications. We seem to always get a FL350 view instead of the detailed this is why we are doing the following......

As far as ecrapo.....I put this sqarely on the company. Since you're a computer guy then you must be aware of the following:

1) SBS is not supported anymore and had to go away. The company can not simply go and buy a programmer since if even if new code was written, the programmer wouldn't be able to support the whole system. However, instead of working with the union, the company said its our way tough dookie! Then we get letters in our v-files about not checking out of the POS. Well maybe someone can explain to me the plains for keeping that program from crashing.

2) This has to be the worst rollout of any software package I have ever seen. In fact, its so bad the FA are still on SBS. This should have been rolled out to 70 captains only at first as a small test group while still giving them access to SBS. Then the test group could have provided feedback to the makers of ecrapo and initiated some changes and a slower roll out that wouldn't have caused such a backlash.

I'm not so sure min line value would help too many folks as we are now closing in on 300 furloughs. And plenty of line holders are against it. I think perhaps it should have been put to a vote.

That reminds me... the 'merger fund' should have been put to a vote too. If they needed money for Vegas, they could have at least invited me.

Going2BGR 11-21-2008 06:37 AM

How bout telling us...what exactly the merger fund is being used for...as in..."we havent spoken to anyone about merging" or "we have spoken with mesaba about merging and this is what your money is going to be used for"....not "pay it or lose your job"

How about sitting down with the company and instead of fighting like little boys...speaking like adults. People are losing our jobs here...and we are worried that someone is managment isnt playing right. Guess what...there will be someone in management at EVERY OTHER airline that doesnt play right. So we need to get used to the fact that we cant get DS out of office and move on with business.

Still pouting about Emaestro isnt going to get SBS back....get over it.

Why arent people putting nasty grams is peoples v-files in regards to picking up open time. Someone i saw on the reserve list had over 100 hours.

I am so glad that the vote for the new MEC was a "btw" in the last e-mail.

The end
