You need a HP endorsement if you are acting as PIC in an HP airplane! THe will need a HP endorsement to fly the Baron.

Not 100% true. If you did your checkride for a certificate and it was done in a high performance aircraft you do not need a sign off.

If he didn't need a hp endorsement for the jet, then the jet is not considered a hp aircraft by the FAR's. He will need to get one to fly a baron.

Does he have to get a high performance sign off to fly a Baron, or will his CL-65 SIC type qualify him? Im going to say it doesn't but I dont really know.

Looks like I'll need a high performance sign off and I'm not sure about the high altitude, but I think so. I could fold up my certificate from ground school and put it in my logbook.

Yes, but his checkride wasn't a PIC type-ride, right? The HP signoff is to act as PIC in a HP aircraft.

Would this be from JFK or CVG?

Doesn't matter, you need an HP endorsement..period..the CRJ doesn't meet the requirements of a HP airplane, because the engines aren't primarily rated by HP...they're rated by lbs of thrust.

It's very clear in part 61. You need to receive and log ground and flight training from an authorized instructor...and an endorsement to act as PIC of an airplane with more than 200 HP engines.

I guess I learned something today. I had no idea the FAA made a distinction between actual horsepower and pounds of thrust.

It would be wise for your friend to get checked out on the Baron by a qualified instructor. The Baron is nothing like the Seminole or the CRJ especially if you lose an engine on climb out. An engine failure in the CRJ or even the Seminole is almost a nonevent. The Baron is a different story. Tell your fried to do the safe thing and get checkout and get the endorsement at the same time.

From CVG and DCA. When this deal is finished I see Comair only flying specific lines in and out of CVG to accomidate sched mx. The CVG base will become a small and a veeeeery senior base. This might be the straw the breaks the camels back for a lot of senior pilots that live in base here in CVG! Delta will keep the JFK and LGA flying in house with the wholly owned. They learned their lesson with Freedom and don't want to deal with contractual issues up there. They want to be able to cancel DCI flight and have no question asked and be able to control the operations. From a post over on the Delta thread in the majors forum, most of the slots gained in LGA are regional slots.
