Wow indeed..didn't see that coming..that probably just means that comair lost that early morning flight to Chautauqua..and 40 hour overnights.

The memo says that this might affect the quality of life by have less productive trips, longer layovers, and longer sits. . I ask, what quality of life are they talking about?

Less productive trips? You mean no more 14-hour 4 days? This place is starting to p!ss me off!

In reality, when most trips are built with a reduced rest the first night, a 34-hour overnight in the middle, and a 5 hour break every day... how is getting rid of the reduced rest hurting our QOL?

As for the longer sits... if they take my usual 5 hour sit and make it 30 minutes longer, I call the hotel desk!

Well, since tomorrow is the first day of October, the usual question comes up...

Has ng4 been given permission to order a second box of business cards, or should we start a pool on the announcement date for our 2010 president?

Anyone have a nickname yet? ng5 just doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but if we take the time to learn their real names it's like letting your kids name a stray dog - before you know it, they've gotten attached...

Thats why DB is a good name, it would apply to every president. One name fits all.

I don't really think that they are thinking ahead of the FAA. The reduced rest trip was designed to be an exception to the flight schedule when changes take place. Comair's POI sat through a ground school last year and a number of pilots told him that Comair regularly schedule reduced rest trips a month in advance and apparently he really didn't like that.

So now Comair takes a stab at it's crews and throws in the bit about less productive trips. Clearly the company has succeeded again at making your life suck, but if they built the schedule the way they should, the productivity would actually increase. I guess that would require them to increase your QOL and of course we know that won't happen.

Just curious - do you really think that is the goal when they build pairings? To make your life miserable? Do you really think that they could do something different, "build it the way they should", but don't just cause they want to make you unhappy? If so, what is the scheduling committee doing about it?

A more pertinent question would be - what can the scheduling committee do about it?

didn't we file grievances over bid packets every month for two years over illegal trip construction? for every victory the union wins, the company can find 20 other ways to violate the contract and punish the pilot group. it all comes down to what relationship the company wants to have with us, and that's the one thing that's been consistent over the years.
