Just talked to a friend there today...5 years and bottom of FO reserve...sad!
The last Captain I flew with was 19 years and on reserve. |
It's sad to hear what's happening at Comair. I was there 2 1/2 years (1985-1988) and it WAS the commuter (1988 term) to be at then. This was "pre-jet", the queen of the fleet was the Saab 340. I flew the Metroliner and the Embraer Bandeirante.

The reserves in CVG only go as high as the September 1989 new hire class. |

I just looked up your seniority and you would still be a lineholder if you stayed at Comair. :D

Almost 8 1/2 years - reserve but still in CVG.

Agreed! It was the worst job I have ever had.
Sure, the threat of losing your job at any minute, and the poor scheduling sucked, but I loved the people I worked with and loved flying at Comair. I can only think of 1 or 2 pilots that I did not get along with that well, and even then it was not a horrible trip. Again, I was JFK/DTW based, so I flew with a lot of junior guys that were great. My commute was great to JFK because I flew on B6. A little tougher to DTW, mainline DAL only, but that was only a few months till I left. I did come from "real world jobs" before flying at an airline, so maybe that is a factor too. Dig ditches, load trucks, be a mechanic, or work in a factory, and all of a sudden...flying anywhere becomes a great job! |
