What's a breezy climb versus a cri climb?

Breezy Point climb is more or less straight out from the CRI VOR on the Kennedy 1 departure after the initial hard left turn at 400' as opposed to the CRI Climb which involves a left turn of about 70-80 degrees at the VOR... (Not sure on the radial...I dont have my charts in front of me)...

Here's the NOS version of the DP: http://www.scribd.com/doc/3155034/LI...NNEDY-ONE-0806

Close diver :)

Reverse it, the breezy is pretty much straight off of the Canarsie VOR, the CRI climb is a hard left turn when you hit the VOR.

Breezy Point Climb is to follow the 223 radial outbound from the Canarsie VOR, which is pretty much no turn at all.

The Canarsie Climb (CRI) is a left turn to 176, and you have to lead the turn as to now blow through the course, which was screwing up a lot of guys. (That and the procedure stipulates you staying EAST of the 039 radial to keep you away from inbound LGA traffic).

Ah.... Thanks guys!

Thanks dude, I caught that... I'm drunk so its kind of hard keeping it all together here... Been a couple of weeks since I've flown that DP... and I dont have my charts in front of me like some nerds I know... "ANDY"!

I understand you CVG folk avoid JFK like the plague. It's really not so bad, and when you do it everyday it gets implanted!

I've never had a problem with it, it is really and easy departure if you just think about it. I thought you were CVG based? At least that's where I seem to see you all the time...

Plus, JFK sucks because it is a hell hole... Every time I try to go down to the 'dungeon' to get some food, I wanna puke after walking in that hallway of garbage... All the male FA's are on fire, and every time I see one, its a reflex for me to lunge for a fire extinguisher and the rampies... well, I dont knwo what they are, but its not good.... exucse my drinkng

PS: did you hear about that CA that blew the Kennedy 1 CRI climb and did the Comair Climb instead?!

We all have those 'big fish' horror stories about people we have flown with, I have to agree with "Andy" on this one.

PPS: Anyone know how to check your flightstation balance, I'm trying to calculate how many paychecks Ill get with a zero balance on them....

Call Pilot payroll x 2468 and ask them. they should be able to tell you what they have on record. now whether it's accurate or not is a completely different question.

What makes the CRI climb more difficult than it has to be is airspeed.
If you just hold 200 knots until making the turn, you will turn right onto the 176 radial. It's the people trying to burn a hole in JFK's airspace and rocket out at 250 kts are the ones that are blowing right through it and causing the problems. They seem to forget that higher airspeed = increased turning radius. Accelerate after you are established on the radial and your problems decrease by a factor of 100.

Breezy point climb is very easy. It's just a turn to the CRI vor and then once you cross the vor, it's only a few degrees of a turn to get on the radial.
