It is possible that the company can only handle letting that many people go at one time, due to the time it will take for downgrades and training. Think about all of those captains that get downgraded to the 50 and then all of the ones that will get differences training to go into the 70. The diffrences class alone will take a month. There could be another list in September and then yet another in October. I hope it's not true, but it's possible.

At that rate they'll probably be recalling before they get through all 291 cuts....maybe?

There are 30 new hire FO's on that list that are still in training. If they let them go on Sept 1st before they get their 100 hours in type.... don't they have to send them through training all over again when/if they start recalling?
What a waste of time and money.... |

That's how a seniority system works.
Just my 2cents, and no I do not wish ANY pilots loose their jobs, considering the wasted time and money I would think they immediately cancel all training classes for new hires pending the outcome of reductions in capacity. I honestly am of the opinion that this is just a scare tactic of Mr. D.S. and that this whole "reshaping of the airlines" is far from over. |

I agree 100% |
Comair has spent the money on the simulators for quite some time now. Even if they pull those newhires out of the SIMS, they have already paid for the SIM time. They can't get a refund on them, so why not use them.

Why not use the $$ already paid to the sims for the 60 captains who have to go through differences training for the 70? note: I don't want anyone furloughed.....but when the company spends $$ in wasteful ways that I can see, how bad are they on the items i can't see? |
