Since we are playing senior vs. junior you all are right...the junior guys were'nt here when the strike happened. They also weren't here when the company started to tank and your contract became a worthless piece of paper. What did you senior guys do about it then? Did you go and complain that you are being betrayed? I now I remember...you all took huge payouts in your 401k and quite a few of you split after that. All I heard in 07 was grumpy captains blasting Comair and asking why I wanted to work at a place like this. Every crusty captain I had seemed to have a chip on their shoulder and was bitter. They didn't do anything but complain. Don't get on junior guys for not speaking up when the senior guys do so much talking that no one listens anymore. All I heard was strike, strike, strike, then just a memo from Lawson that we were going to take the new deal but we are really mad about it. Great representation.

Secondly, the first year guys who are being represented, they aren't being represented for free. Assuming we go back to hiring, they will pay the association back LOTS of money. I see this as a way for the union to not loose support later on. By helping out the junior guys for "free" they are just ensuring that they will have a favorable image later on. Third and lastly, A unions primary job is to help preserve jobs. I agree with them that this Emastro thing sucks and wasn't implemented correctly or in good faith. That said, the union needs to re prioritize. Jobs need to be their most important issue, followed by everything else |

Maybe I'm missing something here but what exactly should our MEC be doing? It's not the MEC's fault that Delta has reduced our hours. It's not their fault that the oil almost hit $150 bbl. It's not their fault that Comair won't go to big daddy "D" and ask for a lot of money to offer buy outs. They are doing the best they can given the situation...IMO.
There are going to be furloughs. You can't have your hours reduced my 9,000 and not have a negative impact. BTW: even if we got the Freedom flying that still doesn't make up for that type of hit. This business about the long call and other violations is a negotiation tactic.....just like stating that there will be no voluntary furloughs, a clear violation of the contract is also a tactic. I don't know what the infighting between Soaper and the union is really about....just planning for the future. I guess my two points are don't take it out on the MEC, I'm sure they're doing all they can to mitigate as many furloughs as possible, and don't blame others for things beyond our control. If you want to be mad, buy a share of DAL stock and go to the next share holders meeting and ask Delta why they are liquidating their own assets (COMAIR) but are locked into contracts that takes money out of their own house. |
Can scheduling assign a 4 day trip to a guy with 4 days available on an A4 window, when their is another A4 on the list junior to him that is available for 6 days?
Or can they assign an guy on an A6 that is good for 4 days a two day trip when there is a guy on A5 junior to him that is good for 6 days. Guess I don't understand the rundown. |

Thats why we need The Teamsters not ALPA, the good ole Teflon Don would not stand up and take this stuff from Soper. And if it was Soper vs. Gotti I know where I would put my money.

First comes day matching (4 day trip to 4 day reserve), within that list irst bid-to fly folks from high seniority to low, then regular reserve from low seniority to high. If there are no day matching, then day match+1 (4 day trip to 5 days available), bid to fly, non bid to fly, etc. That's why on a string of 6 days of reserve it can be hard to get a trip, since we have no 6 day trips, they must go through all 4 day and 5 day reserves. |
does that even go between reserve windows? Or does your window not even matter. So are you saying that they can give Mr. or Mrs. 1800 with 4 days available on an A6 window a four day when here is number 1900 with 6 days but is on an A5 window?
