You seem to know something about this...

How do you apply? I looked all over that web site and couldn't find it.. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

The unemployment office in your state of residence will have the information you need as I believe the funds are allocated through the respective state unemployment offices. Set up a meeting if you can with a "case worker" at your local unemployment or jobs office and they can hook you up. You'll be required to attend some seminars on resume writing and interviewing, etc. but just grin and bear it. Be careful how you describe your career. The money in the WIA will be paid only toward what they call "growth" industries so under no circumstances mention you need the money as an airline pilot. In other words, show them your COMMERCIAL PILOT certificate and tell them you are looking for training in COMMERCIAL AVIATION, not "airline." This is key.

Now....forget Comair. Run along and go get your CE550 types......you're welcome!

Has anyone ever seen in the bid pack where it shows a carry-in trip on your line when you don't have one?

Don't be p***ed at me because people are getting furloughed, I had nothing to do with it;) Trust me, I would leave this place in a heartbeat if I could, but it is easier said than done. My QOL is going to go down the drain. Where are the voluntary furloughs?? There are plenty of guys here that would jump on it to save someone else from getting canned.

I would take a voluntary furlough in a heartbeat.

Paok 09-11-2008 04:47 PM

Please let this union get some VOLUNTARY LEAVES.... I know so many people.... It is such a shame if we put people on the street we don't have to.... come on ALPA.... The flight attendants have their voluntary

Red Forman 09-11-2008 04:57 PM

Yeah it is a little ridiculous. I think we are the only airline furloughing that is not offering voluntary's, early outs, and/or COLAs.

That's cause it's DS and management "messin' with your minds, man!"
