Question for AIR WIS pilots and those not hired
#21
I have been averaging about 800 per year. But I haven't been trying hard. If you try hard you can probably get 950 in a year. And if you try hard the other way you can do fewer than 500. We had guys on reserve who flew about 150 hours in their first year or so.

We just heard through the grapevine that they are adding the a few more sim lessons (12 total)
We also heard that they are making new hires jumpseat 5 flights before starting IOE
Ill admit....Indoc was hard as hell for me. I came from part 91 and 134.5 flying....so I wasnt used to alot of the regs. But we had a great group of guys...we all pulled together and stayed up countless hours in that dirty ass hotel and we all made it through.
I started first week of june, we heard back then that they were gonna be changing to program around...im curious as to how they are gonna do it now

I guess you feel the same as I do about Indoc. I was on July 22 class and has been following your post before I applied, so thanks for your tips also. I've heard the same thing about jumpseat before IOE but I think it'll be starting couple classes after me. Didn't heard about extra sim time when I was in training though, but, did heard from my instructor about the company is changing Indoc after system class or after.
See you on the line sometime.

Recently, due to a relative shortage, people have been holding lines in PHL right out of training. Attrition is not extreme, but it is enough that at most you should only have to wait a few months at most. For a while we had had pilots on reserve for a year or more. That sucked. Overstaffing meant that they were sometimes going 30-40 days without flying.
Regarding the changes in training, they are orienting it more to the pilots we are getting now. That means low-time, no-121-time pilots. Nothing wrong with that (we've all been there and I was hired in Switzerland with 260 total time) but it means a change in expectations and procedures.
For a while the washout rate was getting a bit high. The company doesn't like that for a number of reasons. So they are trying whatever they can to bring up the success rate. Shuffling training events, adding CPT and sims, jumpseating, etc. I think that the jumpseating will help.
They want everyone they hire to finish training, that I can guarantee anyone who cares.
