With upgrades in the 737 at CAL holding at under 3 yrs and 30+ new aircraft coming to the fleet and 200+ ca. retiring next year. He is in a great spot. Definately something to be envious of.

Yeah I see a lot of young F/O's over there, half of them wont even look you in the eye because they realize how easy it was for them to go there. It used to annoy me but in reality thats life, networking, friends of the family, its like that in every industry. I bet some of those kids dont even appreciate where they are, I would imagine those that "paid there dues" that are over there are more appreciative. If my father worked at CAL I would expect the same thing. I wouldn't focus too much of your time on it, it is what it its, just do yourself a favor don't be bitter and don't be jealous. I would love to go to CAL but I am enjoying my time here, however long it may be. Everybody is so focused on the upgrade, the "major" the bigger house, the cars blah bah. You will most likely get to where you want to go, may take longer than your buddy but so what.......... enjoy where your at in life because you dont want to look back when your 50 and wish you would have enjoyed the time you spent "hand-Flying" and drinking beers with a crew that you have much more in common with then some of the guys over at CAL. As more airlines hire I think CAL will be less and less everyones favorite, their contract & pay blow and until they change that, if they even do, Delta, United, SWA, UPS etc would be more desirable than CAL. I would imagine unless you were a local at one of their three terrible bases, Other airlines offer much more in terms of pay and QOL.

I am jealous of the F/A's though, CAL has some hot ones...........

Oh yeah, for us its great but come on, how many people would hate to be based in EWR? For me, its the greatest thing in the world, but for the majority of the pilots I would imagine its not the best base

The mile square city was both the most expensive but best time I've ever had - without even trying. God I miss that place. I could fish for them right off my balcony on Washington and First. If you haven't done it - make it to their St. Patty's party next year. (not on the 17th)
