Just curious........did you hear that floating around in the crew lounge? I heard a couple of pilots talking about it almost 2 weeks ago, but I didn't give it much thought at the time. Can you elaborate?

i don't work at skywest or asa, so i didn't hear it in the crew room or from any other pilots. i heard it from my "sources" :)

Every regional union is only as good as its MEC. It may change the minds of the uninformed people who thing ALPA national had something to do with it. Myself personally, it doesn't change my views one bit. Just a little victory for our pilot bretheren I suppose. I think SKW could potentially have an extremely strong union with ALPA due to the fact that we have a ton of lifers who protect their QOL viciously.

That's not exclusive to "regional" MEC's. It applies to ALL. Regardless of Legacy, LCC, ACMI, Fractional, OR regional.

You're right, however I tend to believe that ALPA national may pay more attention to the goings on of their more "influential" clients.

1500 pilots at an average salary of $50,000 x .02% = 1,500,000
VS.
6,000 pilots with average salaries of over $100,000 x .02% = 12,000,000

Agreed, won't argue that point. But take a look at the 3 legacies that were in Ch.11 in the post 9/11 time frame. 2 of the 3 MEC's took severe concessions, 1 was able to retain some of the gains they had pre 9/11. Probably had more to do with the local MEC/membership's strength and unity and not ALPA national looking our for it's largest contributers.

I'm glad to see first year pay rise. What is the deal with these airlines making pilots fly for free for their first year? Wasn't flight instructing enough??
