Ahoy, should any type of hiring/training slowdown during the holidays be of concern to someone like me who is planning on sending in apps around the middle or end of this month/beginning of November? I have no evidence of this other than hearsay from some randoms so I'm just curious as to the validity of such a thing.
Gracias

Last year SKW didn’t run any December classes and I think they will do the same this year. Not sure, maybe someone else knows when SKW last ground school is scheduled.
Either way, keep plugging along or you’ll be in school before you know it.
Good Luck.

Slowdown is normal. There is a need for pilots late in the year due to timeouts and increased holiday flying, but if they don't have in class by early OCT, you're not likely to finish training and be on line for the Dec rush.
On Jan 1st. all the timeouts come back, so they get an instant staffing boost followed by the mid-january slowdown...which lasts until spring break. So they don't really want a bunch of fresh-out-of-training new-hires sitting around on reserve doing nothing.

Last year, I was interviewing around November, and even December. I have been told by friends at other airlines that they will continue to hiring steadily through the new year. Put your stuff in NOW. Seniority is everything!

There was a 12/4/06 CRJ class. Instead of keeping their 3 week spacing (12/25 class anyone?) they started the next one on New Year's Day. Trainees got Christmas week off, instructors flew the line.

Hmmn,
I will be sending out a handful of applications tomorrow, I will keep you posted.
I don't mind having to start in January if necessary, but I just don't want to be at my current job anymore
