No ground school on the weekends unless you want to go in during systems and go through the lufthansa slides some more. As said before, don't take indoc for granted, the tests aren't easy. Have fun, I think I know one guy who is starting in your class also.

I have been looking at AWAC for a long time and I have talked to many folks in recruiting and who work there. I think it is the best place for me... I seem kind of drawn to it. Plus the PHL base would be nice, the girlfriend only lives 10 minutes from there.

Even though I have only 250tt and 70me I am still gonna give it a try. You never know what will happen. If not... its flight instructing for awhile. Please dont take this the wrong way.. I do not have some sense of entitlement for a job with a fresh commercial, I just am excited about the prospect of a dream coming true earlier than expected.

Sucks the Yanks lost the other night.

I'm new to AWAC but never heard about PHX. Could it be that we might be expanding to Midwest again? For sure I think LGA is gonna happen, and somewhere in NC, which, couple steps closer to Mets!

I have heard that rumor since AWAC started flying for USair. It would be nice to have a base out West but, I don't think it will ever pan out. Of course, I have been wrong before.
I do know this, USair and its express carriers are cutting a bunch of flights out of PIT in January. Where all of AWACs rjs end up is anybodys guess. I just hope its not LGA!!!

I think the LGA base is not as certain as it appears. Not saying it won't happen, but there are some issues there. The NYC Port Authority would like to reduce or even eliminate 50-seat or less flying out of LGA. Personally, I think there are better ways to fix LGA, but foolishly, nobody is asking me....

Anyway, don't count on any rumors you hear. Anywhere. But especially at AWAC. Anything that ever happens here is never rumored. And if it is rumored you can be pretty sure it won't happen.

We have PHL, DCA and ORF and I wouldn't make plans based on anything else at the moment.

FWIW, the way to fix LGA is to enforce stricter slot limits and have a Ground Metering frequency like at ORD. Or else have an inbound and outbound Ground freq. But I think just having a Ground Metering like ORD would solve a lot of the radio congestion, which is a bigger part of the total problem than some people are letting on.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming....

LGA needs metering. BADLY. A couple months back at 10pm ONE GUY was working both Tower and Ground...took 35 minutes to get a push clearance off 7A.

An LGA domicile would save the company money in certain ways, but cost them in others. Besides, the aforementioned political pressure to reduce RJ flying is playing a role; I understand Republic and the 170 return to LGA starting in November or December. Rumor is MKE and RDU are still on the table (albeit backburner), but my WAG is nothing will be decided in ATW until after the arbitrator decides a remedy in the concessionary grievance.

Our current flying through PIT is way down anyway, and it is proposed that TSA take over all EWR flying. That's too bad...I really enjoyed flying DCA-PIT, sitting 3:45 and going back to DCA, or doing PIT-EWR-PIT-PVD and arriving 2 hours late into the RON every time...

I'll miss PIT too. But frankly I'll bet it won't be down as much as people say. They are pulling flights but I think it'll be mostly mainline flights.

I don't see MKE happening unless we were to get some United flying again, something which I think is a possibility, but only longer term.

I do think there is a real chance that Mesa could really collapse and with it would come a feeding frenzy for their flying.

I had an Air Midwest (Mesa) captain on the jumpseat a few weeks ago CLT-PIT and he was saying that he is being junior manned all the time and they are paying Double Time, not just Time-and-a-Half. He was happy to do it, earning something like $130/hour to fly a Beyotch 1900.

Anyway.....

Mainline might be closing their domicile there, but as of yet Republic has not.

TSA also has a prorate contract for their Airways RJs, so I'd guess most if not all of the PIT Express flying remaining will be REP or TSA. Methinks we might turn PIT out of somewhere...but only like a regular outstation. Guess we'll find out mid-Oct when Airways releases the schedule (per J.W.'s post on the company board).
