Ohhhhh....ok i was talkin about the annoucing of a LGA and an RDU base....lol...maybe im really getting my hopes high....hahaha

What would be pleasantly surprising for me in DCA would be getting a line. Being PIC is neato, but I am hardly flying at all. Seriously. Every few weeks they have something but mostly I am here in DCA sitting around. Tomorrow I will check out a museum I guess. Maybe I can meet a pretty young lady at the Smithsonian! :D

While in indoc class I went to a retirement party of a senior capt (30 years plus with the company) and he started to choke up when he talked about the "good old days". I hope we can make that happen again one day.

I sent the website link out to family and friends and asked them to pass it along...this email excerpt comes to me from someone i havent met before

"Before I read any further the first thing I thought was, Hell, I wouldn't want to be flying on a plane with a sick pilot! That's bull****!!!! It sounds pretty much to me that the owners of air wisconsin don't give a damned about thier emplyees. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case of too many employers in this country. I myself, consider flying to be a very serious issue and would only assume that MY PILOT would be healthy, well rested, stress free, well paid and basically very happy with his job. To think that an airline company which has peoples LIVES literally in thier hands is only conserned about themselves and is a bunch of penny pinching cheapskates is upsetting. I don't know exactly what kind of training is involved in obtaining a commercial pilots license but can only assume that it is extensive! For Gods sake it's not like your driving a damned cab! Is it this way in the ENTIRE airline industry? Are we jumping on airplanes under the false assumption that these companys give a damned about ANYTHING other than the bottom line? Reading this DEFINATELY makes me think twice about getting on a plane. What about the airplanes, are they being super glued and repaired with duct tape? Seriously, I want to know! If they're too damned cheap to care about the pilots, what about the equipment?"

That web site about sums it up. The life of a regional pilot is a miserable existence. Reading all that gave me a stomach ache remembering all that stuff I went through.

The best part is the section about pay and time away from base. It was an honest assessment. When compared to the typical work week pilots spend the equivalent of 40 days a month at work. The average pay mentioned over 6 years was 44K. Not much after such a huge investment.

That is the point of the campaign...to educate people in the process of us trying to get the respect that we deserve. There is a LOT more involved in this campaign than a website and stickers. This is the first step...for the people who don't see the site---they might see information in the airports and on TV highlighting the information.

I wouldn't come here right now, I wouldn't reccomend anyone come here right now... it is a great place to be compared to some....but not so great compared to others. As far as job security, as of right now we're basically all furloughed in 2015 when our US Airways agreemnet is up. 2008 is two months away.... so 7 years is just around the corner.
