Being an airline pilot is supposed to be fun right? You guys are supposed to like your jobs correct? Then deal with the down side. If you want money and respect then get a real job.

SkyHigh

You left this business. Now go away.

Sorry

I may go away one day. I also may get back into flying, but for now I feel that I have an important perspective to offer.

If you don't like to hear the truth just ignore me and go back to a state of denial.

SkyHigh

I live my truth every day.

Quit threatening us with your "I might get back into this one day" BS. We don't care.

Fact is I do enjoy my job and all your bellyaching about how poorly paid we are and how pathetic we are for accepting it shows what kind of person you are. Go do your contracting stuff and leave the rest of us alone. Your attitude is not productive or welcome.

Try being in the military. I spent a year away from my family in a country I didnt really choose to go to., but I accepted it.

If aviation was such a sour point for you, why do you spend so much time on here? Your comments make pilots look like the scum of the earth.

IlliniPilot99 10-29-2007 10:06 AM

uh oh...I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a orange kiddy dirtbike on my pilots salary....sigh...might as well just give up and spend all day bashing pilots on forums.

APC : pilots helping pilots

SkyHigh : Former pilot sh*tting on current pilots

There isn't a plumber in the land who would crawl under a house for poverty wages. Dentists would never take even the first step towards a career unless they had a strong reason to think that they will get highly paid as a result.

MY REMARKS CAPITALIZED ONLY FOR EASE OF READING, NOT IMPYING "SHOUTING".

WRONG...

THE PLUMBER WHO RECENTLY FINISHED MY REMODEL/ADDITION SAID HE TARGETS MAKING $80/HOUR AND HE DID A LOT OF CRAWLING UNDER MY HOUSE. YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEE MY W2 AND HOW MANY DAYS I HAVE WORKED THIS YEAR, IT MAY PUT YOU OVER THE EDGE.

Pilots will fist fight over a job that pays 18K. Then they will sell their days off to the company in order to make a living.

WRONG AGAIN, IN MY CASE...

I NEVER FOUGHT FOR ANY OF THE MANY FLYING JOBS I'VE HAD, I SIMPLY APPLIED AND IMPROVED MY QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE TO BECOME THE MOST QUALIFIED. PLUS UNLIKE SOME I'M NOT A QUITTER.

There was an ad in the local newspaper seeking applicants to the post office. The ad claimed that wages were between 46 and 56K per year. Not much but not bad either when you consider that they are getting a solid retirement, good benefits and only had to pass a civil service test to get in.

YOU MAY HAVE FOUND A NICHE...BUT PERHAPS THEY SHOULD GIVE YOU THE LONG PSYCH EXAM TO BE SAFE SINCE ONCE YOU REALIZE HOW YOU'RE TOO SPECIAL FOR THAT JOB TOO BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN.

It is simple business. Why pay more for something you can get for less? Pilots will continue to blow a fortune on training and show up for jobs that pay less than the local street cop, mailman or garbageman. Management can take away retirement, days off and pay and the pilots will still show up.

I MAKE IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS NOW (NOT INCLUDING RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTIONS AND MEDICAL COVERAGE) WHAT ALL MY RATINGS AND FOUR YEAR DEGREE COST ME...PRETTY GOOD INVESTMENT.

Enjoy that sunrise departure because it is costing you a lot.

ACTUALLY I'M ENJOYING ALMOST THREE WEEKS (NOT USING ANY VACATION) OFF IN A ROW...YUP, THIS IS A HORRIBLE JOB.

Skyhigh

Really...you need to let this thing go, especially since you are so happy being free of the yoke of oppression that is aviation.

I'm just curious. It seems that sky just enjoys getting a rise out of everyone here.

By responding to his flame bait only seems to prove and thus fuel his rants.

If his opinions really bother you then why do you respond?

He probably does this sort of thing on many other forums. I myself find it kinda entertaining seeing how one person can stir such a response from so many people.
