Sure sounds to me like we need more pilots on the props.

I've never really understood volunteering for reserve...they're probably just going to assign you open time flying anyway. Why not pick it up yourself for x1.5?

I talked with Virgnia recently and she told me they canceled the Oct and Nov classes for the Bro and don't have anything on paper for 2008. That is not saying it is not going to happen but for now, that is the story. I had my upgrade in for those slots.

I'm still uber-new to how things work at an airline, but I've been sitting reserve for the last month in SBP, and flew a grand total of 5 times. Seems kind of odd that they're so short on FO's, and yet I rarely have more than one flight a week.

Timmay, the reason you don't get flown much is you are in SBP. It isn't easy to get you out into the system from there and then if they do use you there wouldn't be anyone on reserve in SBP?

Rickair7777- actually volunteering for reserve makes a lot of sense. You get paid x1.5 if they fly you and if they don't you still get paid the day of reserve. You may not get the chance to work at all if you wait to pick it up out of open time. It is a great opportunity if you live in your domicile and can be at home.

Good luck in the interview. Hope you like Milwaukee.

Yeah, I understand the reasoning. It's just a pain when you don't get the base you were bidding for and then you don't fly much either. It's not a huge deal, I got awarded FAT for December and most of the guys I've talked to out there are flying 100+ hours/month. Plus, I commute, so I figure if I'm going to be away from the wife and kids I might as well be working. I'm just putting in the time, things are going to be much better in a couple months. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was whining. It's just tough to hear the company asking for people to put in extra time when I'm sitting on my thumbs in San Luis. I'm done complaining. There are definitely worst places to be sitting on reserve. :)

Ever hear about a lovely place called MKE?! :D

Milwaukee is so four months ago. It's all about Chicago now.

I think Timmay's a Bro driver, MKE's RJ's.

Yep - just making a point - myself, I'd probably rather be on reserve in the Bro in SBP than in the Jet in MKE is all ;)
