Do they also have a test you do the day you show up for training?

Test is real straight forward. You would have to be a total idiot, and should be immediately fired, if you can't pass it.

The may have you practice the limitations and memory items test the first day of systems (second week), but it isn't the real thing. Get to know them before you get there if you get a chance though just so you can focus on other crap.

Rog - got the packet today with all that stuff so I guess it's study time :D

Another quick question:

In the packet, there is a section covering "Other Limitations, Notes, and Cautions." These are your more narrative limitations as opposed to just numbers.

Certain passages/numbers are highlighted, and correspond to blanks in the "test" section. Is this test and associated blanks the exact same as on the start-of-ground-school test?

Thanks!

That's the test, filling in the blanks.
Obviously there's a systems test as well, which is why I recommend knowing the limitations/memory items one real well before you go so you can focus on systems.

Real well means from memory, fill in ALL the blanks correctly.

Get if memorized now, so it'll be review at test time.

Yeah - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't memorizing things like Runway Contaminant depth limits just yet :P

Is the runway contaminant depth section blank? If it is, you have to know it.

Not blank.

There a lot of things on the test that are not blanks, but would otherwise seem to be things I will need to know at some point anyway (ie max continuous ITT??? and many others). So I guess I'll study the blanks and all other #'s I deem important - which is most of them, but not contaminant depth limits :D
