I know to toot your own horn saab, not that I dont like colgan, it is a great opportunity to get your feet wet in the 121 but I cannot live. Man, I was just into transitional assistance last week to apply for food stamps in uniform and the woman was astonished! This reality of the pilot dream is a nightmare and all I want to do is be able to help pay the mortgage and feed my daughter. Any advice on where to find out some info on other regionals that are offering a bit more than colgan? If I do a lateral move it is going to be the last one and I want to make the right choice.

dude, you have to consider the training contract.... I know people have debated over this here, (not enforceable v. losing in court) but it seems like it's all opinion or hearsay... in other words, you just never know what can happen. I did ask another forum member who left Colgan a few months ago.. he said they came after him and he had to settle out of court.

What's up man

You are going to find things that annoy you no matter where you go. The goal is to minimize those annoyances. If Colgan has enough of them, jump, run, get out now and not later so you can start accruing seniority.

Have you looked at Eagle or Cape Air?

It sounds like you are from the east coast......give AWAC a try. Good pay and an easy commute for you. Movement is quick, you wont be on RSV long, and you can make over 40K your second year. XJT would be another good option for you too.

Forget the training contract they know how much they pay you and realize they cant sue you, because they have left you broke. I would say Expressjet or Chautauqua, or AWAC, SkyWest is stable and all, but with the family I would recommend staying East Coast. Eagle you will be able to make decent pay but Upgrade is a long long way....... I would apply and get an interview ASAP with either CHQ or XJT, or AWAC

Whas up bro? I have looked at both. Want the PIC turbine, so Cape is out and Eagle, 6 yrs..... Hmmmm not willing to wait. Like I said Colgan has been good however, PVD is going reserve and outstations are probably on the out soon. Money is the major issue, in two yrs at somewhere like AWAC or even Com I would be making about $5 less than I would as capt. I know ugrade is a bit longer like 3 yrs or so but, when you are making more money what does it really matter and we are all under 30 still right? So these are all the questions I am pondering. It is bad enough when you are making 1st year pay, we all know that but when your line goes reserve for 4 months, ****** man that can really be bad!

Make the move! I will make more money then some Colgan CA's this year, believe me Im not proud.......

DMEarc is on the 757 at CAL so the sacrifice for him has been worth it, but he may have not had to support a family etc..........
