ALPA - 904 only 35%
Congratulations to the ALPA Organizing Committee for running a generally good campaign. So, looking to the future, how do we get those 900-ish folks to concentrate their efforts to make the SkyWest that we have TODAY, better tomorrow? Or do we just go to organizing effort number 4 ? I can't imagine ALPA giving up over the long haul. There's just too much money in dues to be overlooked. 1999 - ALPA failed, but very close 2003?- UPA, failed 2007 - ALPA, failed 2011 - ???? Personally, I've said it several times, I think our best chance is an in house union, like Southwest, et al. It's not all about how much dues money we can generate (a common explanation to why it "won't work"). ALPA is not selling, period. And they spent MILLIONS trying. I can't wait to see the official ALPA press release. Wonder who they'll blame for the failure... surely not themselves. I know it smarts now for those 904, but honestly, we all had a good expectation of what the odds were. I guessed 40% for / 60% against, up to 50% plus one if it won. I only started guessing that I overestimated in the past week when it seemed that the NO voters actually started to talk in the breakroom. Time to move on mates, and I'm glad this is behind us. I hope the ALPA supporters can say the same.... someday. The company has issues to fix, and SAPA has internal issues to fix. To do that requires unity, not apathy. I suspect, however, we'll get the latter. I'll be truly impressed if we eventually get the former. |
Everyone who voted down Alpa will receive another wife.

Its obvious that I wish SKW had brought ALPA in...but regardless of this outcome I do hope that the SKW pilot group is able to solidify together in unity to address the issues facing your pilot group. I haven't always agreed with what you've had to say about ALPA Tony, but I'm quite impressed that you've stayed away from immature tactics (unlike some...), attached your name to every opinion you've put forth, and are now working toward improving things for yourself and your colleagues. Regardless of what entity represents you, that is to be commended! To everyone else - MOVE THE EFF ON. THERE IS MORE WORK TO BE DONE. |

----Nice one. |
A sad day for the profession!
Can anyone confirm the story about the FedEx MEC Chairman who was kicked out of the SKW SLC crew lounge last week? |
Congratulations now you can all look forward to many more years of poor wages, being worked like dogs and no representation. Yeah that really helps the industry.

I told you it would fail, so basically, I told you so:) I love it.

I hope you guys out there aren't condemning the whole pilot group. More than a third of the group wanted ALPA |
