THE UNION DOESN'T NEGOTIATE THE CONTRACT THEY ONLY MAKE SURE THE COMPANY ABIDES BY THEM.
Stop saying ALPA, or any other union for that matter, made a crappy contract. The pilots did it. They accepted whatever was offered. In the case of GoJets the company made the contract because there were no pilots when it was created.

Dude, my post was completely, 100% sarcastic...! And yes! a Union here would have most certainly made every pilot's (regardless of Airline!) wildest dreams come true. If you couldn't tell, that was another sarcastic comment.

You might change your tune about unions when you have an uncontrolled departure from the runway and the FAA breathing down your neck, or maybe if the company fires you for a bogus reason and you spend thousands of dollars in lawyers trying to get your job back. Or perhaps you need some guidance when your company tries to screw you over, or if you accidently bust that altitude because its your second max duty day in a row, but its o.k. because your union helped get an ASAP program going for your airline. The union does many more things than negotiate contracts, but I doubt you took the time to research that before you voted NO. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

You're not allowed to make mistakes even though you're human? Just because somebody makes a mistake doesn't mean they need to loose their job, but if you don't have someone to protect you, you just may loose it anyway...even if it was a mistake. If I am wrong about your vote then I'm sorry, perhaps I misinterpreted your "misery is company." comment.
