True those folks caused TSA pilots (MY FRIENDS) to lose their jobs via furlough, and they could easily find alternate employment within weeks...but unemployment sucks and wishing it on others is bad karma.
Very well said

They were just trying to further their career. You had the option to do so as well.

yeh, but they didn't have to sell their friends out to do it.

Kinda sux watching the little vid about GO...typical passenger response, "i want the cheap ticket" which as a result, means, crappy, low cost airline, and an underpaid and overworked crew, yet the passengers will NEVER understand how little compensation is out there for the individuals who bring this leisurely travel to them.

We have been hearing for months about the imminent collapse of Mesa due to lack of staff, but so far nothing has happened. Somehow they keep on truckin'....
Give it a couple of more weeks... lots and lots of pilots are going to time out by the end of this month. 9700 hours in open time in Nov... YIKES. Thats almost 10k... it'd take about 200 pilots to cover that...

...erj pilots vacations have been canceled through the rest of the year...

The airline industry is once again in a period of growth and the major carriers have
aggressively begun hiring regional jet pilots. While this provides career advancement
opportunities for our qualified crews, it causes us to react quickly in our recruiting and
training efforts...

...While we would like to continually reduce the amount of JRA’s, until we can ensure some
reserve support we will have to employ the necessary means to operate the schedule for
our codeshare partner.

To ensure we continue to deliver the best product for our valued partner over the busy
holiday season we have decided to cancel vacations to preserve the operational
schedule. This was not a decision anyone has taken lightly. Much analysis was conducted
to understand the necessary measures to run a good schedule... And in the end,
this will provide opportunities for future growth. As you know we have solicited
volunteers to cancel vacation earlier this month and appreciate those that participated
as this helped us delay this decision until late November.

To that end, we have decided that Freedom Pilot vacations will be cancelled for the
period of November 18th through December 23rd. This applies only to Freedom ERJ
Captains and First Officers...
I saw the memo posted on another site as well: so sad for us. The only problem with it is that vacation can only be canceled due to unforseen current expansion, NOT the possibility of future growth, and NOT growth at other airlines. The memo speaks nothing about current expansion at MAG because there is none, that I know of at least. Also, there is no mention of FO's making lateral moves to other regionals, sadly a factor that makes up for more than half of the attrition rate at MAG.

Run for your lives, the sky is falling.
