I know there have been a couple of threads on this airline but is this a good place to build time? I dont really want to spend anymore money towards the CFI and it seems like a good alternative. Anybody know what the pay is there, and if this is a pretty good route to building time? Seems like it wouldnt be too bad flying the Grand Canyon.

Pay went up a little to 13.50 per flt hr. and 6.75 on the ground. But for a first job, the pay isn't bad especially when compared to other airlines who fly equivalent size aircraft (IE Great Mistakes or Big Sky). Plus it beats instructing hands down. Flying the ditch can get a little repetitive but you will always have an awesome view out your window! I skipped the CFI step by coming here and don't regret it at all. IMO there is something to say for instructing but the experience gained in flying in this type of airline environment is a great transition and will definitely set you up for success further down the road.

Not a Scenic/Grand Canyon question, but regarding Twotter time... how do airlines look at time from a place like Seaborne, where one could get plenty of turbine, but it would be mostly day VFR and, well, on floats?

This month I should hit 90 flt hrs plus we get paid for ground time so once you start flying its not that bad. However the first six weeks are pretty tough since you aren't flying you'll only make the guarantee which is $1296 a month before taxes. Typically Dec.-Feb. are our slowest months but seeing how short staffed we are, I don't think it will get that bad. There are also little perks such as boxed lunches everyday which help out on the food costs. So far it has been great and the pilot group is really good for the most part.

Well, I got lots of Twin Otter time doing something even less noble, and SkyWest seemed to love it. But then, the guy who interviewed me was a real pilot.
