I applied there at the beginning of this year after my SKW interview. I never heard a word.

Maybe they just want marginally qualified people so that their pilots feel completely beholden to the company. I've heard that rumor before.
I had over 2,000hrs, 700 or so in a 121 T-Prop, a 4-yr degree, guess that makes me marginal :) |

you must be a real gem... where you working now? I am happy for you. Stay there!!! |
there was a problem with the HR department for awhile. a lot of resumes were dumped when they went to a new system or something. Supposedly things have gotten a lot more streamlined and there is no longer a month wait for a response.

Paperwork is a big issue. XJT doesn't grade on a point system. You either fit in or you don't. You might be better off somewhere else. Don't let it worry you too much.

I had 2500 + hours, 1300 ME turbine, and an ATP when I applied here, and it took months before they got back to me (after first sending me a thanks but no thanks email!). Once at the interview, I was surprised at just how easy it was. This was basic IFR rating material. I found it to be almost wholly a 'get to know you' session, and I spent more time shooting the bull with the folks than actually answering questions. In all honesty, I expected to get a 'no', and was quite surprised to get a job offer from them. I still have no idea why. Talking to other people that day, it seems each of us had a different experience. I say this to illustrate just how much of a crapshoot it is to get hired. Don't be down on yourself if you got the 'no'. It all seems so random, and at least you tried.

your making this too easy. you post about how you screwed up the easiest interview (besides mesa) and then you knock our pilot group. classic!!! either your dumber then a post or have the personality of a fart in a windstorm because if you got the "hell no" after only 10 min then you must have really made a horrible impression. thats almost an accomplishment. how did you do it? i am serious i really want to know. did you fake time in your logbook? They have one of those every now and then. Maybe your just really awkward in social situations?
you must be a real gem... where you working now? I am happy for you. Stay there!!! But I'm not knocking your pilot group. I'm not saying they hire marginally qualified people, I was only suggesting it as a possibility because I had actually heard that from a few places before. I applied there because I thought it was a good company. I still think it's a good company. I've had nothing but good experiences with them, from jumpseating to my failed interview. Had I not been hired at SkyWest, I'd probably try ExpressJet again. But thanks for all the flattering comments. |
At the time, 1500TT, 500 121, former AH-64 and DHC-8 driver. Applied in February 2007. 10 days later received the interview invite, hired for class 2 weeks later.
I had originally applied in November 2005 and got the "thanks but no thanks" email right away (XJT doesn't count helo time, even if it is an AH-64). Maybe it was luck of the draw, who knows. I did hear that there were problems with the computer system and applications, but I can't personally verify that. Out of curiosity, Shark, who said that XJT only hired "marginally qualified people"? Yeah, I've met some 600 hour guys, but the average TT in my class was roughly 1700 with 300ME. |
