What sort of QOL do ya'll have at Skywest? I hear people like the company.

As of right now, at Skywest in ORD, the most senior reserve/composite line holder is a 07/07 DOH.

As for QOL, I personally really enjoy working for Skywest. I'm from Chicago, and after commuting to my previous carrier, I finally get to live in domicile, which has increased my QOL 1000 times over. I'm sure if you do a quick search on Skywest, and are able to sift through all the "kool-aid" comments and union bs, you'll find that everyone is really happy to be here.

Whats the best guess at upgrade times at each company, for a 1st quarter 2008 new hire?

Can't comment on other lines, but SkyWest upgrades are probably going to stay in the 1.5 to 3 year range. The future has a high likelihood of additional carriers and growth beyond Delta, Unitied, and Midwest.

Major airlines like to hire SkyWest folks, so as long as they keep hiring (age 65 may affect that), people will keep upgrading.

I would certainly go with a union that represents gojet... some unity.

Take your pick between Republic and SkyWest and take the job with the domicile you want. If you are just trying to hopscotch to a major you can always go to TSA or some other carrier, have crap QOL, and get your PIC time very quickly.

If they wouldn't let me vote to put in ALPA at SKW what makes you think they'd let me vote down Teamsters at GoJets? Trust me...given the opportunity I would have done both.

Are you insinuating that majors prefer SkyWest pilots to pilots from other regionals? If so, I'd love to hear your reasons for believing this.
