shamrok,
You should be able to get MHT shortly. One of my friends is there and he is VERY close to upgrade and may very well be that upcoming jan upgrade class as I think he holds number 2 in that base. Ill definately be jealous, that is the reason I applied for the saab and MHT but I will make the best of it.
As for the rumor I heard from a reliable source that it is the Q300 and not the 200 but then again who knows. It would make sense as it is a common type, although besides the way a few levers and switches look there is no similiarity between the 200,300 series and the 400
As for what am I doing until the plane arrives.....? I am guessing nothing since i only have the type in the Dash and I wasnt hired to answer phones in manassas so id say sitting around and waiting.

I don't know how the new Q's are, but the old Dash 200 and 300 were similar in a lot of ways.
I guess the way they started the Dash-8 series was the 100, then the 300, then the 200. They took the 100, took all the kinks out of the 100, then built a stretch version out of that. (ie. the 300) Then they took the 300, put a variation of its engines and all of its guts, for the most part, and crammed it into a 100 shell. So basically, the 200 is a refined 100. The overhead panel, and instrument panel of the 100, 200 and 300 are quite similar. The only noticable difference on the overhead panel is the airconditioning/heat (don't remember the term for it) panel, on the 200 and 300 are different from the 100. On the instrument panel the only thing that comes to mind is there is no Flight/Taxi switch for the spoilers on the 200 and I think 300 as well.
Now as for the Q400, I have never even been in one, so you got me there...
Merry Christmas folks! For the Dash guys/gals, enjoy your time off until the proving runs have been completed and you all get a chance to do IOE. Good luck!

How many times you take a full boat on the SAAB? QX seems to be restricted on their -200s, but @ Piedmont we could take 37, alternate fuel, and just about all the lost bags they found sitting around in PHL without a restriction. It was a good plane, so we got rid of them for more -100s.

Hey SGT,
Well at least you can enjoy the holidays with your family before things get going with the Q. I know you wanted MHT from your previous posts so I feel your pain. Actually I live closer to PVD but hear that there is no movement there for now. MHT is a much shorter drive for me than ALB where I am now. Like you said, I 'll make the best of ALB until I get MHT or PVD. Sounds like we both did our instructing in the same stomping grounds. I instructed out of Worcester (ORH) and Lincoln, RI (SFZ). Happy Holidays!

yeah the ones I flew (-100/-300) had them but I was told they were an option with the company I was with. The Dash is a good plane yeah it can be overweight at times but good for short regional routes in and out of short fields. I know the Saab 340 is faster than the Dash 100/300. Where the -200 has -300 engines on a -100 body. Kind of a 100 that went to the gym.

[QUOTE=SAABaroowski;283931]read the news boys, Comair is getting some of the flying back.
...........Comair will begin service "almost immediately" after the Jan. 7 Big Sky departure, Black said. Comair will fly to Boston twice daily using 50-seat regional jets, replacing Big Skys six daily flights that use 19-seat turbo-propelled planes, according to Rebecca Hupp, BIA director.
I believe that eventually they will use the 700 on this route. JMO.
