Starting class for the crj soon, for skywest and would like some more info on them?

Any info on ground school

IOE is it at your base?

What are the average days you fly per month? Days off?

Average number of NIGHTS at home?

How long is upgrade to Captain?

How many legs on average do you fly?

Do they try to get everyone through training or do they send people packing?

Can you trip trade?

How hard to trade bases? Which are senior?

Anything else????

I numbered your post for ease of answering, here goes....

1. that's a pretty open ended question... not sure what you're looking for.... start with indoc, then systems, then FTD, then Sim, then IOE

2. IOE will probably be at your base, but they may deadhead you somewhere they have a checkairman with an open spot.

3. min 11, average junior line holder can get 12 or 13, 14 if he's lucky. I can get 15 to 17 rather easily, I bid 20%.

4. most trips are 4 days and 2 days... this answer can vary wildly...

5. Junior capt on the jet was hired July 06 and he's based in Chicago... That may be misleading...we're very "fat" on captains in most bases now, so I suspect it'll continue to slow down. I would expect to be in the right seat for 3 years, and if you want bro capt figure 18-24 months.

6. Anywhere from 1 to 7 legs on the jet. The average ORD -200 4 day has 16 or 18 legs. The average ORD -700 4 day probably has 10-12.

7. If you're trying, they'll get you through... this is not TSA.

9. The process itself is easy...jet bases (I'm not familiar with seniority on the Bro, someone else will have to answer)
PSP, SBA, SMF are super senior
COS, TUS, DEN, SLC are generally attainable within a year as a FO
MKE, ORD are very junior, expect one of these out of training
SFO, LAX are reserve only... so only ABOUT 8 pilots total at each
ATL was fairly junior but it's shrinking so hard to know, probably in the same category as COS/DEN and so on

I think Skywest has the best FA's in the regional world, but I have to hand it to CAL for best overall.

Min is actually 20 duty days per month meaning 10 or 11 depending on a 30 or 31 day bid. Those of us that are on permanent reserve know this all too well. 20%'ers forget I remember the days I bid great fo lines. I am sure our new pay package will include min 12 days off. Oh sh!+ I just spilled my koolaid all over the place.

 

You'll have to forgive my small oversight there... I managed to avoid reserve so far...at SkyWest anyway
