No, your 1200 hours has nothing to do with what aircraft you were assigned. Keep in mind any FO can upgrade as long as they have the flight time and their seniority can hold it. You got the 145 because they needed FO's on the 145. Just like 170 FO's get the 170 because they need 170 drivers, not because they're previous 121, have higher time, look cooler, or any of the other reasons that get thrown around.

Nah Sharky...you know the truth...the 170 guys are the cool kids...the rest are the pencil jet drivers.

Just kidding...or am I?

By the way, Sharky...You may not know it, but you know me...be scared.

Another thing to keep in mind is all but two CRJ fo's were hired between 10/19/06 and 05/30/07. With upgrade times the way they are the majority of pilots have either gotten an upgrade award date, or will sometime soon unless of course they hold out for a more senior plane or base or dont have 2500 total. If you do want to come here on the crj for either the bonus or because of an unhealthy texas obsession now is the time to do it there will be movement soon.
As to what will happen in the fourth quarter of 08 if and when 7 crj's are pulled is anyones guess.

Lets Go Mets
Jim,
got hired on March 5th CRJ class. Looks like there is growth on this equipment as i am not the only one on that equipment.
I am a bit scared by the amount of hours that you mentioned though.
I have 1700+ hrs and i want to fly fly fly so that i can upgrade asap.

Thanks..

I got the March 5th too but they said I would go to the 145. I wonder if they told me wrong. Out of curiosity what kind of TT do you have? What date did you interview? I wonder if you were in my group. I was there Jan 30th. See you in IND on the fif. In fact I might plea the fif. 1 2 3 4 fif.

They probably didn't tell you wrong. They're hiring for both aircraft, though I don't think they're hiring very many for the CRJ. Most likely they'll put you all together in Indoc, then you'll have different systems and sim training (obviously). Of course I've heard of instances in the past where these things change the first day of Indoc. "We need volunteers to switch to the CRJ." Good Luck!

I wish my engines were underneath the wings. Then I could look down on all the 145 guys in the crew room.

Nothing makes me happier than being told to reference a 170 and getting to say "Roger, we got the company RJ in sight." They love that...

P.S. - I caught you about 2 weeks ago...I only know of one gun-selling 170 FO. Guess who it is. Gimmie a call the next time your in IAH.

Unfortunatly there is no growth. We're losing seven crj's in the fourth quarter of this year, ten next year, and the remainder in 2010. This is what B.B. said in the 4th quarter conference call. We are finally starting to see some movement which is good. A lot of the initial hires on the crj have gotten awards for captain. Your class shouldnt be online until May and I think you will probobly fly more than I did. I've done the math and with all the people upgrading I think that they are going to need one additional crj class after yours to fill the positions of the guys upgrading. Hopefully you wont get stuck on reserve forever. Try not to spend your time worrying about things you cant control and instead spend that time studying for sims. Know your limititations, memory items, profiles, callouts and flows down cold. What hurt me a lot in sims was not having any glass time and trying to figure out the afcs. If you dont have any time flying glass I would get some kind of microsoft flight simulator to get yourself familiar. I wish I had. Good luck
