Fuel burn isn't the only standard. Can the Airline make money providing a service and will the consumer be happy with the service. Right now there is a move to dump less efficient aircraft for more efficient aircraft. The consumer will remain oblivious to anything beyond price and satisfactory service-it is up to the Airline to provide that service at reasonable price point. Fuel burn, cost of aircraft, ATC/gates/slots, convenience and many other factors impact the bottom line.

HI, the S92 cost about 1300-1400LBS per hour, if the helicopter is light, it can go down to 1250, compare with fixed wings on same weight, it still costs too much fuel.
