Chow and others,To the best of my knowledge we are still hiring, and we are still interviewing. The current plan is too slow this hiring process to allow attrition to help level staffing needs. As we all know staffing needs are based upon spreadsheet numbers with projected attrition. So crew forcasting planning is taking a shot in the dark. We currrently have small classes starting biweekly with a short break in February as the footprint for training is massaged. I personally think that good news is headed down the pipe but we may have to weather a storm such as a Delta merger before things begin to turn. Some people are scared of this and are cutting and running. My only thoughts on this is if all DCI carriers and other non DCI carriers do have to scale back wouldnt it be better to have 6 months in instead of 1.

Also, any new hire will not see actual line flying for quite some time. I'm not sure how long IOE is taking these days, but people were getting a month vacation waiting to start.

I wish i could go back to the Christmas Day meltdown we had which btw was the beginning to Comairs "slow growth" or "shrinkage." Since that fateful day there has been nothing but shrinkage and i don't mean what George from Seinfeld meant, and false promises and expectations.
Believe me when I say that i would like to see a light at the end of the tunnel but after MANY promises made by our past "4"CEO's in five years, and yet more negative news forgive me when say "show me the money!"
People are scared and running? I would cater this to a wise opportunity having the ability to see what really is and has been happening here.
Anyone can try and offer me some Koolaide here but ll i would need to do is look at the facts and history and NOT what may happen if this should occur or that occur, or they "heard" something from someones' cousin who is married to the daughter of a man that heard comair has been bought! Sick of speculation and rumors and koolaide. Before I get flamed, I enjoy the flying here and personal I fly with, just sick of managements lies and their advocates trying to force koolaide to me and others. Want to raise morale, or quality...show us the money or at least an ACTUAL VISION of where this company is headed.

I agree 100%. Give us some TRUE idea of where we are headed. If they want the senior people to quit, give them an incentive to leave. Don't just make the rest of us miserable. All that does is destroy morale and lower our customer service.

I read on anothe forum that SkyWest may be buying Comair to secure more Delta flying. Just another rumor until the PR though

Yep. You posted on the "Comair or Eagle ???" thread ...
"Shortly after New Year's I have interviews with both Comair and Eagle."

How did you like Eagle?

PIPErdrvr 01-24-2008 09:37 AM

I had a great experience with eagle! Everyone was very nice and outgoing (employees and applicants). The only bad part was that the whole process took 12 hours from arrival at HQ to completion of the SIM. if you are interviewing soon check out the most recent post on aviationinterviews.com. got any questions, pm me!

Welcome to Eagle !! For those of you thinking about coming here, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Sure the upgrade is long right now, but they may drop to 3 or 4 years. Qaulity of life on the EMB ORD is good, and I think this would be a good place to wait out the recession. Well back to studying, can you believe folks have failed the indoc open book test? Well I can't let that happen to me!!

PIPErdrvr 01-26-2008 12:17 AM

So you're in class now? How is everything? pretty fast-paced, i'd imagine! I start on Feb 4. If you are going to ORD, tell me what you've heard about life/flying up there. All i know is that reserve is short (1-3) months on the EMB but thats about it.

Yes, started on the 21st. Everything is fine, not fast paced yet, we just completed indoc, open book test is Monday, can you believe people have failed this test? I am going to ORD on the EMB, as of yesterday, THERE IS NO RESERVE WAIT FOR LINES AS A NEW F.O. subject to change, of course.
The line for the EMB ORD as well as BOS are great, weekends off, plenty of out and backs, etc. When you come, be sure to bring money, eating out around here is expensive, so most everyone goes grocery shopping at Super Wal Mart, and packs thier lunch. Things to study of course are emergency memory items (only 6 of them SUPER EASY) memory items, profiles, callouts and systems. You are paid fully during training, first check is around 600.00 bucks mailed to your address of record. Per diem is around $1.95 for 16 hours, daily plus the new pay increase we just got.
Come here ready to work your butt off, stay on task and you will do fine.

If you have any more questions, pm me and I will be glad to help you out. You coming from Comair, right? Again Welcome, and I'm sure I will see you around the "schoolhouse"!!
