Did you ever fly with a pilot that goes..

250 knots on downwind past the airport for miles. Then, the instant they slow 1 knot below the placarded slat (if applicable) speed limitation, they throw out the 1st notch and maintain that speed. Then they'll incoherently follow and fly the flap and gear placards the same way (precisely 1 knot less) until level at the top of approach altitude, fully configured miles outside the final approach fix with engines spooled up to 80%....”?

No, its 250 to the marker, then throw everything out and configure on speed. On speed and spooled up at 500'. Thats how to roll.

Only if the runway is over 10k and the terminal is at the far end. Otherwise, we roll long.
