Ae
I was wondering. I know you can pick your Dom. Which I will pick DFW. Now is it up to them if you get the Tprop or Jet? How many are getting DFW and the Jet?
|
I was told by an instructor that was going to DFW that they are doing away with the props.

If you want the jet, go to ORD or another base with no tprops. Otherwise, you could (gasp) be forced to fly the trop. It really shouldn't matter whether you're flying the tprop or jet, because you won't upgrade for 6-7 years, so it's not like you're going anywhere else for a while. Unless you lateral transfer.
|
If you go to another base how long is it until you can bid another base? The only reason I want the jet is because I fly the tprop in reserves. Then I would get the best of both worlds.

who is the instructor, or is this another hear say from a friend that heard from another instructor? Don't believe anything until it happens! It'll drive you nuts! |

By this I'm hoping you mean an Eagle instructor. Because I can't imagine a new hire CFI just starting would be a credit source of info on the background machinations of management at the company. As for time before one can transfer, there is no base lock. You can transfer bases as often and as soon as your seniority can hold it. |
you may as well just go to dallas and take whatever they give you if you want to be in dallas. there is no difference for the first year. the second year theres a $5000 pay difference so then you should switch to the jet. I would assume that you could get a line alot sooner on the saab in dallas than the jet there. The extra expierince can only help.

However, if you've got 'must have jet syndrome', pick ORD as a base and put in a base X-fer to DFW during training. New hires do it all the time. |
Few Jets availible in DFW. There were two CRJ slots out of 27 new hires (Jan 21st class) And it is given out by seniority, which is age within your class. Unless your 30+ forget about DFW and a jet, plus as others have said reserve at DFW is 6-9 months where ORD is 1-3 months. Some guys selected DFW and wouldnt change and got stuck with the SAAB. Needles to say they werent to happy. Do your homework before you get to class is th best thing.
