1000/100 for non-121ers, if you have 200+ 121 time then 850/100.

To upgrade you need 2500TT and 1000 crew. There are no flight time calculations what can reduced these numbers like a few other carriers have.

 

8 additional planes... 4 SKW planes formerly flying Delta (to be replaced with 4 -900's on order), and 4 pulled out of the desert.

The Midwest contract was for 15 planes, with options for 10 more. So, I guess we can still add two more.

 

it's actually hand done. i won't say her name on here, but there's a girl in charge of putting the classes together, and she has to go through everyone's bids manually, makes sure they haven't turned down a class in the last 6 months, check their hours (if she has any current information from them...if not, she checks the form we filled out as new hires, checks the computer for skywest flight time, and adds them together). then she has to get the list approved (used to be brad holt's job to approve them). then she has to email and/or call everyone to find out who wants the class date. it's a long process. she told me it's made all the more long and frustrating because there are so many people with bids in that either a) don't want a class or b) don't even have close to the hours necessary. people shouldn't put bids in unless they have the hours and want a class, but apparently lots and lots of people do just that. and that's not even counting the people who put the little dates on there to take a class after a certain date. obviously, she just skips those.

glad it's not my job to do what she does.

 

I don't see how it can go that low yet. There are a lot of people that didn't have the time to upgrade that now do. I upgraded about 1.5 years ago, and I wouldn't be able to hold the last few bids.

 

That's because they only upgrades 10 pilots in the last 2 classes. Now they're scheduled to increase that amount by quite a bit. Plus, it all depends on what people want. There are a lot of pilots who have bids in for more senior bases were the movement is slow and won’t accept MKE or ORD. When you look at the pilots who want these two bases then the list gets pretty Jr pretty quick.

 

I cant believe its still done manually. if you can place your bid online, and skywest has sophisticated software, they can easily write on to that system a program that filters out standing bids that are too low time, or whatever other criterea they need to use. Thats a must for a company with over 2500 pilots.

Thanks for that...it makes a lot more sense now. It's actually non-sensical for a company this large to do it by hand, but at least I can understand why it does take so long.

 

i know nothing about programming. im going to barnes and noble, im going to buy "programming for dummies" and im going to write a bid award program by the time my next trip is over. nah nevermind i have to beat call of duty 4 first.
