Because when you fly the SAAB you would never dream of having auto throttles. We would love to be able to navigate other than being a /A. It is fun having to fly with Low enroute charts out and actually using ground based navigation facilities, having to track a radial yourself.

Still, I love the SAAB.

Oh and to answer your previous post there is an aircraft that can take off on it's own, although it did not turn out too well.

If you can't hold a speed while the autopilot does everything else then you probably shouldn't be for hire.

It's called autothrottle, the airbus has autothrust because you never touch them except for when you set takeoff power and when the airplane says "retard, retard" to which you idle them before touchdown.

The ERJ 170/190 will even pull them back at 30 feet for you. Only have to touch them to set takeoff power and taxi

Sometimes the good part starts during the approach. That's why I'd love to have the A/T take care of everything so the 2 of us just need to pay attention to the radio, and not the radio and the plane while we watch the movie

Take it easy there. I'm not attacking you. Not saying that RJ's are lesser planes, but just wondering why this "simple" functionality seems to be absent.

Haven't found any porn dvd's that will last all the way into the approach....unless you have some of those fancy double features
