Before I went to a regional, I did not have ANY logged time in an aircraft manufactured after 1984, and the transition to glass in a CRJ was cake. As mentioned, if you have a good scan on the 'ol steam gauges, a glass cockpit is like a dream come true. When I was interviewed, no one ever asked about and glass experience.

You are mistaken. As long as the training is 141 they will pay. At my school, they enrolled guys as 141 so they could get reimbursed but then when they were ready to test they just did a 61 checkride. The 141 paperwork was sent in and they got paid!

I'm all for paying my dues, that's what I spend a year and a half in the sand box for and that's why I'm currently getting my training.
I'm sorry your offended because I want to train in a Cirrus. From what I understand though all the regionals are going glass cockpit anyway and they are going to want people proficient in those systems.

I was an activated reservist so our GI bill is alot different. We don't have 60% tuition reinbursement.

I'm done with the ground school and I have my sign off to take the written. The 12K is a ballpark of what I'm looking at to do the flight and ground briefs all the way to CFII

AHH... That changes everything!!! I was under the impression you were active duty. My bad. I would still look into it though. I am sure the VA has programs for you guys that will help with the cost.

Thats the school I recommend!!! AF is awesome. Great instructors and they are good to veterans. I know several guys who did their CFI academy.
