Default Pinnacle Moving Days Allowance

How does the process work for arranging moving days for new hires/trainees at Pinnacle? I heard it's something like you get to schedule 6 days off, and it has to be taken within 21 days of starting IOE or something? At what point in the process do you put in your request for which moving days you want? How long does ground school & sim last. Also I heard there's no break between sim and IOE? Thanks in advance.

i haven't had to do the moving days thing in a while so i will read the contract when i get home and let you know. training from beginning to end is usually 2 months. and as far as breaks between checkride and ioe i had 3 weeks off. nice for the 24 hour perdiem, bad for getting in the plane 3 weeks later and trying to remember everything for oe.

After sims you have to do 4 flights in the jumpseat and a walkaround. This can take a couple days to schedule, expecially the walkaround. They basically pair you up with a MEM captain and you meet him at the airport early one morning. He shows you how to check in and such, then you guys head out to the airplane for a through preflight. The logic behind this is that OE flights were getting delayed on the first day due to the OE captain taking extra time to walkaround with the newhire. You may have some time off, you may not. Just depends on when you go through. I took my checkride at the end of July and started OE around mid-august. So with the FAM rides and walkaround I never had a significant break in time. but as I said, it all depends on when you finish training and such. Hope this helps

I don't remember being able to put in a request for moving days. They just gave them to me, and I dealt with it.

I was able to change my moving days to a later date...about 2 weeks later than they were given to me. I had to email a couple of people a few different times, but it worked out nice...went to the beach for a family vacation for a week, not too shabby!

Lowflyby,

Cool. Who were the magic people you had to contact? Were your moving days taken during IOE even after rescheduling?

Thanks to everyone else who chimed in too!
