I didn't offer a "BS excuse," I offered facts. Rather than ridiculous crew room gossip and senseless attacks on a good MEC Chairman, maybe you should try to educate yourself.

Either he picked up open time during a picketing event or he didn't
Are you really this dense? HE PICKED UP OPEN TIME BEFORE THE PICKETING EVENT WAS EVEN SCHEDULED!!!

SE is doing a great job. While we are on this subject I find it interesting that there is still a ton of open time for both CA's and FO's. I posted up a poll on the company site about open time and about 90% were saying they would not pick it up. Sure the money would be "helpful" but I am not going to help this company when they repeatedly treated the pilots like cr*p! This mgmt team is only going to come to the table if the completions and on-time performance go down- which they have. Our pilots are flying the contract and not going out of their way to help the company- it will still take time but eventually a contract will get signed.

If the MEC chairman gets a mistrip, it doesn't do any of us any good. The MEM CRJ900 picket was a last minute event. It was a great success and it was actually amazing how many people turned up on only a couple days notice. Do you really think crew scheduling would allow a trip drop for an open time trip already picked up far in advance because he wanted to go picket??? Get real...

The attempt to smear our MEC chairman is unfounded and frankly pathetic. S.E. has consistently demonstrated his commitment to our pilot group and we as 9E pilots unequivocally support our MEC. 99.3% of PNCL pilots can't be wrong...

Divide and conquer is not going to work with us.

i am glad everyone is happy with the pace of neg. I now feel better knowing that the pncl pilots feel they have a leg up on the company and not getting schooled at the table.

Good luck

Once negotiations have begun, and prior to release for "Self-Help", ALPA cannot recommend anything you should do to help gain leverage on the company. This equals "Negotiating in bad faith". When cited as negotiating in bad faith, you lose credibility with the mediator and nothing goes your way.

If you want to put the hurt on your company to gain your leverage, you're going to have to do it at the "grassroots level".

You need only look for suggestions from US Airways crewmembers to see how to do that effectively.

Hell, just ask your Red Tail big brothers. "What about BOB?" (Block Or Better) was a complete success in getting them many of their work rules back, and all it took was some incredibly slow flying and taxiing.

A couple things we can do that are not questionable in any way is to not pick up open time and never answer your phone when scheduling calls when you are off-duty. If management wants us to work extra they can give us a fair contract and stop lying. Every time someone picks up open time or answers the phone to be junior manned helps the company mitigate the manning problems brought on by management intransigence.
