How pinnacle pilots get a contract
#41
A couple things we can do that are not questionable in any way is to not pick up open time and never answer your phone when scheduling calls when you are off-duty. If management wants us to work extra they can give us a fair contract and stop lying. Every time someone picks up open time or answers the phone to be junior manned helps the company mitigate the manning problems brought on by management intransigence.

I have been keeping tabs on overall CA and FO open time... Not much has been picked up and i am assuming the trips that are coming out of open time are being assigned to reserves or being covered by some extensions or junior aassignments. I have a friend on rsv who has flown every single day of reserve, been extended, and has has the JA calls (yet hasn't answered). It appears that the trips are out of open time. To add insult to injury our cancellations and on-time performance is getting out of hand. I do not remember the last time I was on time and my last 4 day trip had 4 cancellations! Simply the best at p*ssing off 50 at a time!

I must admit with 15-18 days off and only an 80 hour line I contemplated picking some up but with the thought of "helping the company" at the moment its a no-go. If we had a real contract or if we were at least treated like human beings I could really help the paycheck. The sad part is that the 150%- $32.50 or so I would make an hour is still far less than the going rate of 2nd year FO's. I choose to spend more time at the gym and with the woman.
Plus there is rain all over the place- I may melt....

I received several phone calls and text messages this month from "friends" asking the email address for open time pick up. I "forgot" to call them back. No one has ever asked me when it hasnt been 150%. Prob the same 0.7% that voted no to strike.

Treat those phone calls the same way as the JM calls. "Hello this is scheduling we would really like for you to call us back so you can help us get this flight out the number is 1-800....CLICK #7- your message has been deleted".

Here is another tactic if you want something to do online--there are lots of investing websites out there (google finance, bloomberg, etc. etc.) that let users start forums/threads about stocks...similar to e-mail spammers, one could (100% legally and anonymously) try to fan the flames over how a strike would "cripple the company"...better yet, if you have any friends in local media in the hub cities (or outstations with no other good air service), try to get articles (with anonymous sources of course) about the number of jobs that would be lost if a hub shut down, or the loss of good air service that would be lost if a strike happened in an outstation city. They're all long-shots, but might as well try if you're bored.

That's good news. It demonstrates our commitment to never compromise safety despite the possible repercussions. The problem is that some people still don't seem to get it. They are still calling dispatch/ops multiple times to do somebody else's job. It really isn't safe to pressure a dispatcher into forcing through the load data when they are not sure of it themselves... It needs to be left to those who are trained, qualified and paid to do the job. It's getting better but we need to keep up the effort to never compromise safety.
