DON'T GO TO MESA!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'd be another ignorant pilot to fall prey to Orenstein web. I mean you no offense, ignorant means a lack of education. Just read some of the threads on here about MAG and take a deep look at the company. Their in a lot of trouble and I mean a lot. Go to anyone else except GoJet, if you go to GoJet you will be ridiculed, denied jump seats and bashed. Try; Pinnacle, Mesaba, PSA and ASA. There all hiring with about the same mins. |
Have you Applied anywhere else? Because if you can get an interview go to those before you choose to go to Mesa. I do not want to be another you will ruin everything for going there (even though i feel that way) but i hope you explore other options before you decide. There are alot of them out there. With in the next few months hiring will pick up again as long as the econ. doesnt take a total crap.

I also agree do not look at go jet. that is the only one worse then mesa

I was just throwing it out there to see what would be said. I wish I could be picky but I'll take what I can get. The end justifies the means. |

Do some instructing it is a great experience. Please think before you do it because there is a good chance the company is going down and you will not have a job any way. If you can not get a job else where it probally means you only have 250hrs and i caution you to think about if you can handle fly 50 people around. You might be able to but think about it first.

Does it? This is a saying meant to help those who made a bad decision sleep at night. You'll be far better off somewhere else.

I don't have a CFI and don't have a desire to get it. I most def know that I am capable of flying any number of people around- not an issue. |
Sounds good. With those times you should be able to go to a different airline.
Just wondering how do you have 20 turbine pic? Just wondering |
I have a good friend that owns a 135... out of what he has I have flown a Cheyenne 400 LS, IIIA and IIXL. Most time in the 400.
I have about 70 hours total in all three, between Dual and PIC |

20 Turbine PIC Both RAH & SKW need 1000/100. If you ask I’m sure there are quite a few posters in here that would help you get interviews at their carriers. |
I would for mesaba rather then have another go to mesa!!

Just curious (no offense), are you American? Your sentences don't make much sense until you finish them and then you have to adjust for your intended meaning.
Haha, for a split second I thought you were talking to me. |

I'd like to stay and chat with you some more but I have to fly to HOU. Good luck and take a look at this thread. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...t=14048&page=4 |

well all I have to say beware of Mesa... to each his own if you want to go there I would tell you like most people here STAY away from MESA in other words Friends dont let Friends fly for MESA or GoJets.. Dont CHASE a quick upgrade either, things in this industry change faster than a moving cold front, if you insist to go to Mesa after you have been warned then what can we say, its a free country.. Just be prepared to be pretty unhappy...
|
Mesa's also set to lose a lot of flying with UAL and US in the next few years. That will increase their upgrades.
|
Dude Mesa Has about 1600 pilots the chances of you getting the same domicile may be good but the chances of you flying the same trips are pretty slim, and besides Mesa will jerk you around even if you have a line with your buddy....Like we have said.. you have been warned.. so take your chances

I'm not chasing an upgrade... what I said earlier is that one of my best friends has been with mesa almost 2 years and HE is about to upgrade. I just thought it would be cool if we had the same domicile and/or could bid some of the same lines.

As much as it would be cool to fly together, you need to think about your future. You will make many friends elsewhere that will be fun to fly with. In my opinion you should go where it's in the best interest for YOU. If that means mesa, so be it. Good luck whatever you do.

How do I know I'll ever be ready? What when I get to 1000 hours a switch flips and all of the sudden I am ready? Sorry to sound sarcastic, but I just think that I can handle anything.
|
I remember not too long ago when 600 hours was low time.
600 hours with an "I can handle anything" attitude puts you in the most dangerous category as a pilot. |

By the way, the Cheyenne is a P.O.S. They call it the "K Mart King Air" for a reason.

I like the 400 quite a bit |
Hey bud,
I do agree with everyone about the standing of Mesa. The great part about where we live is you can take or leave advice you receive throughout your life. Let me promise you that Mesa will suck the life out of your passion for flying. Another fun fact to life is that you are able to make the decision that best fits your needs regardless of what everyone on this forumn thinks. This is the time to be a low time pilot so make sure this is taken advantage of. With your times, Express Jet would be worth a shot as well. They are hiring for spring classes as we speak. Make sure you bargain shop before you buy!! Good luck. |
As a guy who spent just under 10 years at Mesa, I am urging you to reconsider your choices in this matter. If you value your personal time at all, DO NOT TAKE this position. Your quality of life will be next to zero and your family, friends and significant other will likely abandon you for someone they will see more often. I plead with you to reconsider.

Hey man go where you can make it, try the airlines you feel good about, and dont let alot of folks make the decision for you. I nor anyone else knows what your goals or intentions are, nor your circumstances. Just do your work with regard to research and go for it. I wish you well in whetever route you choose. More specifically I hope you pass class, IOE etc. and reach all your goals in life.
