You're right. I would like to take this time to officially retire from regional airline work. It has been a pleasure working with each and everyone of you. Too bad I worked for $hit pay my entire career. It would have been nice to make as much as a real airline pilot......say an Airbus FO......maybe even an Airbus FO that is senior enough to hold a line.

Have you looked at AWAC? Our largest base is PHL and when it opens in a few months, LGA should be our most junior. I believe our hiring has slowed, but hasn't stopped.

You could fly for a JFK based airline and commute on JetBlue. Believe me, there is nothing better than commuting on mainline a/c. No weight restrictions!..for the most part. You could also commute to EWR on XJT to fly for XJT. Good luck with your decision.

I dont know about the other airlines but be advise if you plan on commuting to ORD for Eagle on an Eagle flight (or American, AMR regardless) they will charge you each and every time (unless your lucky enough to sit upfront with the guys, which in the CRJ is most uncomfortable seat in the regional world (my guess is the MD80 is the worst in the industry)). Yes, AMR charges its own employees to ride on its planes.
You may want to factor that into your thoughts. Granted, its not much, maybe $10 each way, but do that twice a week for the next 5 years and it adds up. It was frustrating to me to get my already sad paycheck and see $-14, $-14, $-14, $-14 on it everytime. Just me and my .02

I have worked for Eagle for 7yrs now and after 5 your nonrev in Y are free, so commuting cost would not be the issue. The issue would be trying to get on Eagle to ORD after being weight rest. to 35-40 pax on a e145 which happens all the time around here. Trust me I know it would be hard I work the tkt counter and gates now and its so fun asking 15 pax to vol b/c Eagle cant to 50 pax. I was wondering if its better to have a crash pad in ORD or live at home and drive 3 hrs round trip each day...which would you do?

If it were me, I'd step away from the Jet A fumes and blue juice...its killing your ability to spell and communicate effectively;)

Seriously though, I can't believe Eagle's ERJs are THAT weight restricted! In 2 years flying the EP/LR/XR/SR/SL I think I have had to leave 2 or 3 AT MOST behind. I've even had to ADD ballast to a full flight in order to get a jumpseater on. Being restricted to 35-40 seems a little nuts unless they swapped a 135/140 for a 145.

What passenger weights do other carriers use for standard pax on the ERJ/CRJ? At AE we use 195 for a standard weight, but I remember hearing somewhere that Skywest uses 180. That adds up quick and could be the reason for all the weight restrictions on AE.

Believe at ExpressJet, pax are 189 in the winter and 184 in the summer. Gate checks are 20lbs and standard checks are 30lbs.

Can an Eagle pilot not jumpseat on Eagle? I've jumpsat (is that a word??) on AE and AA in the back and was never charged. Am I missing something?
