shamrok thank you. I am looking at colgan because I live between kalb and khpn both being bases and I have reasons to stay here if possible. Now does any one know the name and title of the person I have to address my cover letter too? constructive help only please

Honestly do not look even that far into the process. You literally only need to call Colgans number and ask to speak to A: Karen Chace or B: Chuck Colgan. After a succesful phone interview they may ask you to email Chuck a resume and they will absolutely ask you to complete an app on airlineapps.com. If you are looking at Colgan then you may as well do the airlineapps.com now because it is 100% required so just stay ahead of the game. Getting hired at Colgan is a very easy process, hell you can even skip half the process and email Chuck your resume out of the blue to [email protected] and in the body of the email state your reasons for wishing to apply to Colgan. They will like your innitiative and you will be at the next interview absolutely guaranteed. Be prepared to get the Q400 though which currently is only at PIT, EWR, ORF and BWI. If you want send me a PM and ill give you my name and you can tell Chuck that I suggested you email him your resume. Colgan is no shining star but to some people it is a good fit. Take all you hear with a grain of salt and come to your own conclusions. I do not mind it here but keep in mind that there is alot of truth to what people say about the company. Had I not had the seniority I have in equipment it may be a different story and if that were to drastically change then who knows. |
Flyguyniner11 is right... just send in your stuff and you'll get an interview. Great company to work for if you want a quick upgrade, and to do some REAL flyin. You'll work hard, but the people that you'll fly with are some of the best in the industry...

Those are probably not the best bases to consider if going to Colgan. ALB is a maintainence base so you will end up ferrying alot of broken aircraft. White Plains is a bit of a nightmare. I flew this month at HPN and was delayed approx 70% due to volume in the NY airspace. The airport isn't run very well either. Consider BGM, ITH, ABE or SYR. I've heard good things from the people who work those bases and have good experiences there myself. |

I grow tired of hearing people talk about how they do "real" flying because they fly a T-Prop.. when in reality they have no experience piloting a jet aircraft to base such a pompous hypothesis :rolleyes:. That is why I gave the harsh response. Having gone from the SAAB to a jet, never once have I considered myself not to be doing "real" flying. Each has their challenges and it is quite ignorant of TP drivers to label themselves as the only "real" pilots left.
Maybe it's just their TP pilot insecurity coming out, I don't know. |
