Yeah, because this economic downturn may cut the airline industry by 40% but all other sectors of the economy are certainly going to continue hiring people.

I've been through one furlough. I didn't see it coming, and it stung like hell. From that I learned a valuable lesson - mitigating one's potential losses cannot possibly be a negative, and you do what you have to to get by. Of course I know if things get bad enough that 40% or whatever random number are cut, chances are the whole economy would be reeling, just as it was after I was furloughed. I still got a job, non-flying, despite all the sectors hurting, and did just fine. On the other hand I guess I could just hide in the corner and wish it would all magically work out also.

I thought we were talking about economic expansion, not stock market performance. (Certainly there is a relationship between growth in GDP and increasing stock market value, but it's not the one we're talking about.)

In any case, your original point was:

My only reason for presenting that example was to illustrate that your assertion is not always true.

I am going to start a Strip club, called "The Hanger" where all of the dancers are dressed like really ----- Flight Attendants and the Waitresses walk around in thigh-high's and Pilot Hats, the stage is outlined in Taxiway Edge lights, the DJ booth looks like a Control tower, the seats are your typical Airplane seats, the drinks are served with beverage carts, food is free and Lap Dances are on the house if you bring your airline ID, man if I won the lottery this would be my first project
