Before you stone me, for those that can't tell, I'm totally kidding!!! We should definitely be passing on the costs to the consumers. Look at shipping rates and how they rise after fuel goes up. Now, look at the profits of cargo companies.. Problem solved and no employees had to sell their house/send their wife back to work/drastically change their life..

Problem may be with people that've gotten used to flying cheaper... with fares going up, many people will decide not to fly if they dont have to... even if prices dont go up by much...heck I hear pax complaining for $20 or$30 differences.
Those carriers charging $5 a fare may do a lot of harm before they finally go out of business....

yeah and i swore 10 years ago i would never pay for gas that was over .99 a gallon. yet i just spent 60 bucks filling up my suv at 3.10 a gallon. people will cry and complain, but they will pay. the thing people are used to is traviling by plane and not driving. that is what people are used to.

UPS for sure has been doing fuel surcharges for years.. We can thank trash airlines like skybus for hurting the majors and forcing them to keep their costs down. LCC's like Jblue, SW, Air Tran, Skybus and the likes are hurting this industry. SW got lucky with fuel hedging (very smart too..but they didnt' know it was going to get this bad, no one did).
If the airlines try to take more concessions from labor, Doodie will hit the fan, it wont be pretty.

I mean what are they going to do....drive their cars to grandmas house? That cost the same amount or more. The airlines need to somehow decide to charge an industry standard surcharge that would be followed by all carriers fleet specific. Know that would never happen though.
I was talking about those other people who will plan to put up vacations... or will fly grandma home intead of flying the whole family over to grandmas...
