If you are from PIT, you should give Republic serious consideration as well; pending you have the minimums. Being based at home will have perhaps the greatest effect on your QOL.

Good Lord. What a stupid post. I take it from your sidebar info that your an XJT FO. How much money did your airline lose last quarter? Working for TSA does not "bring down the piloting profession" -- I'll go out on a limb and say working for BlowJets doesn't bring down the piloting profession. Making stupid and ignorant comments like yours brings down the piloting profession. It just shows how uneducated pilots can be. Did you work for TSA? Do you know people who do? Or are you just repeating some BS you've heard on this site? I bet it's the latter.

PIT Dude: Working for TSA is not as bad as people around here would have you believe. Quick upgrades are still in the making if you have the time and age. Do you plan on commuting from PIT? As you no doubt know, Airways is cutting back in PIT big time so commuting could turn in to a two-legger really quick to either RIC or STL.

We're growing... just got more United flying from Mesa and two additional airplanes. More than you can say for some of the "better" regionals.

NWA757 should do a search for the following:

COLA's
Parking Aircraft
$31.7 million 4Q loss

Point is, those in glass houses......

I love you guys who act like those that work at the "good" companies (myself included) are the dumb ones when our company loses money. Get a clue. I guess you would have been pleased as punch if your company just cut lose 69 airplanes and 700 pilots instead of striking out on its own, and evolving its business model? Fact is, the model for the branded flying IS sound. The only bad thing about it was the timing. But that was out of our control. If oil was still at $60/barrel like it was when this whole ExpressJet Airlines thing was cooked up and the economy wasn't in the pooper, the branded flying would be MAKING money and we would STILL be some of the best paid pilots in our market segment. I hope you're sitting down because I'm about to blow your mind: airlines do, from time to time, *gasp* lose money. Get used to it because there is going to be a run on red ink here in 2008. So why don't you go ahead and just keep an eye on your own house.

Oh and FYI, XJT has not parked any airplanes.

thanks guys, i havent heard anything bad really about TSA it seems like all there 145's are relatively new. and being based out of PIT would be the best thing that could happen but i did hear that the PIT base here for republic is pretty senior, but oh well gotta leave the steel city at some point.

Their 145s aren't new, they're new to TSA. The latest are coming from Mesa and I bet they're just peaches.

I'm a former waterskier. Do yourself a favor if commuting, go somewhere with a commuter clause and real growth. 50 seat aircraft are going away, and guess where any 70 seaters go if Trans States Holdings is awarded flying? There are a ton of great people at TSA, and I enjoyed flying with them. The upgrades are about to come to a screeching halt though and perhaps more important the company freaking sucks. THere are a ton of recently upgraded captains that won't have competative mins for quite a while. There is no upgrading for growth, it's all for attrition. Once that stops, the movement stops.
