Hum.... Looks like in 2006 /7 tuition room and board was about 12 or 13 grand a year... and under the aviation program I saw at least 40-50 grand in aviation course.....
none the less I think what we have been trying to say is that there are NO absolutes. JUST because you think it was harder than someone who used their local FBO doesnt mean everyone would. Further more using your thought process I could "claim" that my training both in military flight school and aircraft specific training in the military MUST be harder than any GA, University or airline training.....problem is that would just be so much hot air. Was the training I got world class... YES..... was it better than that available in other places.... maybe...maybe not......more importantly, having trained in GA environments, and Airline 121 programs on two occasions and being military trained, all I will say is that military training is different. The main difference being you cant just keeping trying to get it... at some point usually 3 bad rides...you were gone in those days. There was no buying more time to "get it" or taking the class again.... it was a finite schedule. Get it in the time alloted or wash out. That in my mind is the only difference. Not better or necessarily even harder...just different. I know several DAMN good pilots who never got their military wings over things they just needed a bit more time on.... but thats just life. I know pilots for EVERY possible background and they ALL ( military included ) produce guys that shouldnt be flying.... and those no one wants to fly with.... |

Im glad the fractionals dont hire the 200hr wonders right out of UND. I dont know how someone flys with you for four days.
The funny thing about some of you guys, is you really seem upset that some people may have gone to a good 121 school and got somewhere because of it. Sounds like a little jealousy, which is really lame. When I was in training, at XJT, I made a lot of friends from pretty much every type of flying, and I remember we would crack on the guys from UND and others that thought they were God. But the most annoying punk was the one who was 21 and had done GA training and no flight instructing and thought flight instructors and women pilots suck. While flight instructors and guys whose moms and wifes flew were sitting right by him. He made a lot of friends quick. Not to mention his daddy was a CAL captain. |
This place is starting to sound like FI!!

Maybe because I'm not a punk who acts like I'm the best because I'm from UND. Maybe because I'm pretty laid back and enjoy pretty much every Captain I fly with and don't act like I'm better than him.

It gets old haveing to listen to you guys talk like your aviation Gods because mommy and daddy paid for you to take a lot of worthless classes at these cookie cutter schools. Then your the same pilots who b***ch at your job because your not going anywhere because you have to wait years to build the time to upgrade.
I guess the $70,000 I took out over my 4 years that I have to pay was free money that some how must have really came from mommy and daddy. I could care less about upgrading. I work at ExpressJet and I think the QOL of my life right now is pretty good. Keep talking, your really good at stereotyping people and making yourself sound pretty good too. |
