New EMB-120 destinations offered by SKW through UAL
#1
Not flaming, it's just nice to see some expansion when everyone (including SKW) is getting cut back.
We are flying to both destinations twice daily which means an extra 56 departures per week (28 from SFO), 240+ per month which equates to over 360+ block hours per month. Since we are still understaffed on the Bro this means we need an additional 8 or so pilots in addition to those needed to bring us up to proper staffing. Kind of explains why we are still running EMB new hire and upgrade classes. This looks good for the EMB poolies and not so good for those who are holding out for the jet.
Guys it may not sound like much but it's something.

St. George, UT, March 26, 2008 -- SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc., is pleased to announce new United Express service between San Francisco and two new Oregon destinations – Klamath Falls and North Bend, beginning July 7, 2008.“ SkyWest United Express is pleased to offer what travelers want – new, convenient, nonstop service to more places in the U.S.,” said Mike Thompson, SkyWest’s vice president – market development. “This summer, United Express Klamath and North Bend passengers can enjoy access to the City by the Bay – and beyond.”
People keep saying that T-Props are a dying bread and that SKW's days of operating them are numbered, but yet we keep getting new Bro routes (yes these are new Bro routes). Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. LOL! Bottom line, they’re just way too efficient.
I've been told by a very reliable source that this is more "at-risk" flying in partnership with UAL. Much like our PDX (UAL) and SLC (DAL) flying is. He also stated that SKW will be adding more "at-risk" EMB destinations out of SFO (in addition to these) as well as a few more from SLC.
These routes are great for SKW due to their overall profitability.

I suppose if you really focused on working yourself to death (six-leg work blocks with one day off between), you might be able to make it happen. Since I've held a line (Nov '07) there hasn't been a month when I haven't credited at least 100 hrs., and that's just with 4-days on, three days off between. Looking over the past few months, I've only blocked an average of 85 hours per month. It's tough with the pairings, like you said, but I think if your main goal was to work as much as possible, it could happen. I flew with a CA from SBP who nearly timed out for the year in November, I think he had 7-8 hours left to fly for the month of December, and that was back when they were running strictly locals out of SBP. So obviously, it's possible.

No expansion unfortunately, they are discontinuing LAX-MOD service (my hometown dammit!). So cut the 4 daily flights from Motown and that's where the planes for the 2 and 2 new flights come from. Such a bummer, it was nice having the Modesto-LAX flights while they lasted. At least we've still got the SFO flights, oh I forgot, they are cutting those down from 5 to 4 a day too
