Republic
Don't take my word for it, but I know someone that interviewed with Republic this week and got an e-mail that said that they were not currently looking for first officers at this time. Anyone know anything about this?
|
"interviewed" with republic, then got that email? Because that obviously doesnt make any sense Or maybe I think you meant "applied" to republic? If thats what youre asking I dont know i just talked to some people in PHL and theyre still understaffed there but who knows that may have just changed
|
I interviewed towards the end of March and am scheduled for a May class. I've heard through the grapevine that recent new hires are going into a hiring pool. This is really surprising considering their projected hiring figures for 2008. I haven't heard exactly why they're having to do this, but one can make a pretty darn good guess after looking at the overall industry/economy right now.

So, I guess it's not possible to go to an interview and go away from it not knowing if you have a job or not?? He flew up to Indy this weekend and got the e-mail today. |
I know of a class date in June for RW FO's...... personally I would be surprised if they stopped hiring. We are pretty short rsv in all the S5 bases, guys have even had to sit rsv out of base for crew sched to get coverage. RW is still taking delivery of aircraft and we still have a net gain of another 18 or so acft by end of march 09 and we are nowhere near staffed for that number. Hell we still lost over 30 to attrition last month.... and I know of several more that have resigned in the last few days. Now... they may just have all their classes filled for the next 8 weeks or so and if they arnt sure exactly what they need to fill perhaps they are holding off on class dates.....ANYTHING is possible. Just have to what and see...... I do know that as of a day or two ago they still had First Officer listed as jobs needing filling on RJET.com. Good luck.

I remember when I applied ages ago, there was an error in their emailing form letter system or whatever. I got a similar email, then a few days a later a new email came saying it was in error.
I am not saying that is the case at all, but and idea Reeves |

I understand, I just wanted to see if anyone else had any info. Maybe there were some issues with the applicant. I'm not sure

Just interviewed today and heard nothing about a hiring pool. According to HR they are still hiring into all 3 certificates. Im excited for the opportunity to fly for them, lots of growth potential at the company EVEN with the way things are looking in the economy right now. I will let you guys know if I get an email or phone call... Im waiting anxiously...:D

Thats what I had heard NorCal... I talked to an indy ca just yesterday when I picked up a bird to repo for a C check.

Pool
One of my buddies interviewed in the end of March and they gave him a mid May class date (15th I think) on the Republic Certificate. About a week ago they called him back saying he had been bumped from the class and is now in a pool with an expected class for Shuttle sometime in August (with no specific class date).
|
I interviewed at the end of march with 7 guys and I think they only hired 1 of us. I was the only 121 guy there and my interview went really well so I was really surprised to not get it. My friend interviewed 2 days later who is also a 121 guy and he said that none of the 121 guys got it including himself. Kinda sad about but o well. Good luck to everybody else.

Crap...where are all the Mesa guys going to jump-ship to now that SkyWest and RAH are slowing?!
|
There's no telling how many classes they currently have filled. They are still pumping them out as they have been in the past. Perhaps they have too many applicants now. As I sit here in STL I can promise you CHQ certificate is understaffed. From what others are saying we are still understaffed on the other certificates as well.
Maybe the other regionals not hiring is sending a larger wave of people towards RAH. Where there was XJT, SKW, ASA, PNCL, Eagle, etc. hiring the applicants were more spread out but now that several have stopped more might be funneling in than before. Perhaps RAH is now being more picky simply because they can. Multipilot from here very recently interviewed, less than two weeks ago, and was placed in a CHQ erj class coming up. |
STL FSI is full of RAH pilots in various stages of training. No end in sight, from where I sit. We keep hearing of more class dates on the 170, and I heard the sims are scheduled with the current trainees(FO's and upgrades) thru June.

I interviewed April 2nd and was offered the job. I was told that at this time they do not have a class date for me and that I will be in a pool. The reason was that they need to evaluate which certificates need pilots. They told me and another guy that interviewed the week before (who was also told he was in the pool) to expect a class date in June. They said that they are still projecting 700 new hires this year, so get your resume in and good luck. Here is part of the offical e-mail that I recieved from HR:
"I want to thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to interview with us for the First Officer position. We have selected you for the pool of pilots for our future classes. The airline industry is constantly changing, and we do not have firm dates of classes that meet your availability. However, as soon as we do, we will contact you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience." Hope this helps. |
I interviewed March 20th and got the RW 4/21 class in STL. From what I understand there is one class in mid May for the CRJ or ERJ but I don't know anything about it. I think they filled the 4/21 class a couple of days after my interview.
|
while the flight safety in STL may be slammed, theres an aura of disappointment down here with the guys in HOU that the next class they have coming is small and then there are no scheduled classes after that.
don't really know what cutting back down in here means for the overall hiring at RAH but thats the deal down here in HOU. |

Don't worry guys. Just finished IOE today and I already have three trips on my schedule later this month worth about 40 hours. One more two day and I'll break guarantee this month. We need pilots.

Got the call today. I am in the pool. HR says they dont have their summer schedule set up yet and all the classes are full through May. They could not speculate on when the schedule would be annonced but said its in the works. So I guess I will wait.
|
Congrats. Keep instructing and building time/options in the meantime.
|
RAH has not stopped hiring, we have just gotten really picky who we hire now that the good times have ended. Don't be suprised if the mins go back to 1500/300 like they were when I got hired. There is just a backlog in the training dept. I was just in recurrent and the training guys were doing classes non stop day and night. IMO, RAH is a great place to work. If we can get this contract ironed out relatively quickly life would be even better than it already is. Now that they are getting picky, make sure your resume is solid and better than the next guys. Good luck.
|
I know someone who also got this email after they were hired
|
Hope the wait for classes is not too long. I interview next week so we will see.
|
I guess that 2 year upgrades at RAH will be more like 5 years for the new hires now?
|
Not likely. We're still growing. As long as that's happening and the majors are hiring the upgrades will continue. Upgrades times and hiring mins do not go hand and hand.
|
My training experience at HOU was the exact opposite, I guess.
We had the same ground instructor the whole way though. He had been teaching the course pretty much since the beginning of FSI getting the contract. Were able to use the sims, with the motion and visuals turned off, to practice flows. That was much better than the "paper tigers". The sim instructors I saw were all pretty sharp. With the exception of one guy, our whole class passed. And that was with SH doing all the orals and checkrides. |

S5 is a different story, though. |

the last of the RP 175's come online may/june.... S5 then starts taking delivery of 175's for Delta Connection...
|
Thanks for that tidbit, Herc. I was fine with being put on the S5 certificate instead of RP, but admit to being slightly disappointed that S5 didn't have any 175s. Good to know they're on the way.

They are the same plane! Identical cockpit, Identical systems, Identical Engines, et cetera. The 175 is merely a 170 with a 6 foot plug in the fuselage. Besides as an FO (or even captain on the S5 side), you will not see a penny of extra pay between airframes. |
Ummm... I know that. I just think it would be cool to carry the extra passengers, so NO, they are not the same airplane.

I just got back from Indy. Word is that attrition has slowed for the moment, can't be by too much though I keep moving up. Growth is not tremendous, we'll have to see what happens with F9. I saw 132 in Phl the other day. I think it stops at 135. I know that there are only 35 175's planned for airways. F9 still gets 5 more frames, like I said we'll see. Delta wants us to keep the 135's on property since the Freedom fall out, again stay tuned. Anyone else hear that we bid on Compass? Word on the street is Bedford wants it, we'll see. Don't get our panties all wet they are 175's with first class so no extra money for Capt's. As if someone besides the flight attendants should be getting paid extra for another 6' of metal. We'll need to hire a bit for that if it happens, some will bail. If there flow agreement holds water they maybe able to go to new Delta. I hope somebody is getting a big stapler ready. You new guys need to worry more about where you are based then what airplane you are on. Either way its better than that semi-hole your flying now. Quality of life is everything as an FO. Bid where you live. You can always upgrade to the jungle bus. |
